“New look hotel! what a difference”
Reviewed 23 February 2007

Having visited the hotel a few years ago when it was offering cheap self catering rooms, what a difference when I visited recently. It is under new ownership and being completey renovated into a classy 3 star hotel. Smart, modern bedrooms and a great buffet breakfast is now on offer. Friendly staff and in a great location with a trendy bistro right next door. I used one of the meeting rooms that they now offer , bright, airy rooms with good service. I would certainly recommend it, very reasonable prices and easy parking. If visiting Southampton - do try it, I think its a little gem!

Pretty basic accommodations, and not particularly comfortable. It's difficult to believe they tout themselves as a hotel for businessmen. Hard to beat the price for an extended stay however. Whatever you do, don't get the "basic" room.

Pros:
1. Price
2. Close to university
3. Close to shops and restaurants
4. Friendly staff

Cons:
1. No AC
2. No phones in rooms
3. No internet access
4. Very noisy
5. No hot water for 3 days

I could go on.

  • Liked — Close to where I needed to be
  • Disliked — Uncomfortable and noisy

Have been there in 2005 for a week. The longer you stay there the less you pay (160 pounds for 1 week). The biggest problem was that there is no phone in the room and there must be something wrong with service since I was there for 1 week and I had to use the same towels/sheets, etc. for 7 whole days!! You pretty much get what you pay for...
