We took the Red Funnel over the Easter Holiday over to the Isle of Wight. We were extremely happy with trip over and return. It was pretty busy on our way over but the staff did a great job getting the cars on and off efficiently. I read online prior to leaving that you are able to ask for a tour of the bridge and if they are able to they will. Unfortunately, they were extremely busy the day we traveled over and they had a family pouring ashes into the ocean so the captain could not allow us in the bridge. But they advised me to always ask and as long as they don't have anything going on they will do it. On our return the Red Funnel contacted me a few days before departing to let us know they were extremely booked on the day of our departure and if we wanted to take the earlier ferry it wouldn't be a problem. We didn't need to book it ahead of time we could just show up. We decided instead to take a late night ferry instead and weren't able to get a hold of them after hours but when we turned up to the ferry port they had no problems putting us on. We even got to take the new ship which was extremely clean, bigger bathrooms, large comfortable chairs, large touch screen tv with games, wooden trains for kids to play with. It was a great cruise back that kept my kids entertained the entire way. I would opt for the newly refurbished ship if possible.
