This is a genuine step back in time. A former Clyde steamer, the Shieldhall used to take sewage out to sea. It was then used to give trips to injured soldiers and then to tourists. It since fell into disrepair, before being rescued and restored to its former glory by an amazing group of passionate volunteers. Where Shieldhall differs from similar vessels is that you can not only take a trip around the Solent on it, but you can also have a look around the bridge and engine room. It's amazing to wander about amongst the pistons as they work away. The friendly team of engineers and sailors will happy answer questions and point out items of interest. Don't miss this hidden gem.
