Backs on the nice East Park. Memorial is located at the top of and along the QE2 Mile. Within walkable distance of the SeaCity Museum with the story about the Titanic.

I have always been interested in the history of Titanic and last year when I was on holiday in the New Forest I visited the Seacity Mesum which was fantastic. At the time I didn't realise this memorial along with the musicians memorial were there. So this time when on holiday again I found the memorial. It is really easy to find with plenty of parking areas nearby. The musicians memorial is just across the street on the front of the Paris Smith offices. Seeing the memorial made me feel very emotional. The memorial is generally in good condition and seems to have been treated with respect over the years as there was no graffiti or damage. Definiately a must visit for all who have any interest/connections to Titanic.

Just a note to say this is actually the Titanic engineers memorial. there is a small memorial to the restaurant staff in St Patricks church - but that's seldom open. There is musicians' memorial at the south end of London Road, and one to the crew in Holyrood Church.

The "Angel" is not guarding the 2 engineers - She is actually the Goddess Nike (or Victory) and probably represents triumph over or the overcoming of death and is seen as such on many war memorials - The 2 engineers are one man - my maternal grandfather William Hatfield (1878 - 1954) - He was not on the Titanic but was a White Star man through and through - spending much of his life as a "greaser" - He was chosen to model and represent the engineers and men who would have had great difficulty in getting out from their workstations - He was later ironically dumped in the somewhat warmer Aegean Sea in 1916 when the hospital ship Britannic went down - He survived and made his way home - eventually
My other very distant paternal relative Thomas G Ranger - again a greaser survived the Titanic sinking and gave evidence at the London Inquiry - I hope this is of interest - Memorial seems to get smaller as I get older....................
