Premier Inn Southampton West Quay Hotel

Being with the kids we had booked a family room as usual for our Premier Inn stays. We arrived quite late (circa 2100hrs) after a great day at the seaside in Bournemouth, but were told on arrival that they were "just sorting out some more family rooms". On reaching our allocated room it hadn't been set up as a family room and we had to call reception who promptly sent someone to do it. Seems there had been some problem earlier on in the evening causing some upset to the room allocations. Bit disappointing as it meant the kids didn't get to bed as quickly as we'd liked, but it was all sorted out in the end. Other than this quibble there were no gripes, just the usual comfy beds and spotlessly clean room. Tip: It's about a 10 min walk from Southampton Central station, but the free CityLink bus stops at the West Quay shopping centre from where it's only a 2 min walk.

I enjoy staying at Premier Inn for a good value night in a consistent and clean environment. Something that West Quay Premier Inn excels at it is the excellent and personal customer service from it's staff. A well manned and friendly reception, efficient and friendly bar staff.

I had a couple of small issues which could have been dealt with better. My room was missing a TV Remote and had cigarette ash on the carpet (despite being a non-smoking hotel) when I phoned reception they said that someone would be up to the room right away, they didn't arrive after over an hour so I called again to request a new room. The girl on reception said they had been busy and didn't have an available room (even though this was mid-afternoon). Within minutes a member of housekeeping arrived with a TV Remote and cleared the ash - telling me to use the air on to clear the smoke smell!

The restaurant seemed to have issues dealing with everyone in a timely manner, the manager was very apologetic and obviously suffering from the efficiency of the rest of the team. Despite this when the food was served it was fine. You can also eat from the full menu in the bar, the staff there are very friendly and cooperative.

The West Quay Premier Inn is in a great location, just cross the road to the West Quay Shopping Centre or a 2 minute walk to Mayflower Park. A great location for a reasonably priced pre-cruise night from any of the docks.

Other than the above, the room was clean and in good condition. I will definitely stay here again on my regular visits to Southampton, the friendly staff really make it. Although I personally prefer a more formal hotel the night before boarding a ship.

We spent one night at this hotel, it was the evening of the 3 Queens leaving Southampton for the Jubilee. The hotel was very busy but we were still given a very warm and friendly greeting.

The room had a glimpse of the sea and one of the Queens! Big room, very comfy bed and clean bathroom. A lot of hotels could learn from the wardrobe set! Brilliant light up vanity mirror and plugs next to it. Rooms were quiet and we had a great night's sleep.

Dinner at the restaurant was good value and delicious. Full marks for the buffet breakfast at around £8. Again all the staff were brilliant and really welcoming.

The hotel is perfectly located for West Quay and the docks and seems to have been well thought out. We recently stayed at a De Vere and I would rate this Premier Inn well above it for comfort and service.

We stayed overnight with family and friends to watch the three Queens cruise ships arrive in Southampton on Tuesday 5th June. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. A pleasure to stay there and congratulations to the whole team.

First time in this Premier Inn, what a surprise, very clean and efficient check in, staff available to help at all times.
Room was very clean and pleasant added bonus air conditioning, during hot weather much better than the Novotel.
Food deal for Breakfast and evening meal was excellent and good vale.

Will be back

Room Tip: Only problem was parking costs in the multi storey opposite

We spent just one night before our transAtlantic voyage. This is a corporate chain hotel in a less than beautiful (though very convenient) location, so after a month of wandering in France, staying in B&Bs, and a few days in a small private hotel in London, we were truly pleased with the warm, friendly welcome and excellent service we received here.
