“Good basic hotel for 1 night stay”
Reviewed 25 August 2014 via mobile

My husband and I stayed for 1 night because we had a day visit on Azura. There is a drop off point behind the hotel, which you can stay in for 30 minutes whilst you unpack your bags and check in. After this we parked our car in the west quay multi-story car park, you get the hotel to stamp your ticket and this allows you to park for 24 hours for £5, which is pretty reasonable.

We had to wait about 15mins to check in, in the tiny lobby, it seems quite a busy hotel, lots of people checking in and out at all times of the day. However we went straight up to our room on the fourth floor, room 438, dropped our bags off and went to west quay for some shopping. We got take away from Pizza Hut at west quay and took it back to our room to watch TV, which was lovely.

The bed was pretty comfortable, I could feel a spring digging in my shoulder when I went to sleep, however I slept through the night, so it couldn't have been too bad. There was an extra pillow each which I liked. There was a sofa bed in the room also, which was nice to put our suitcases on. Tea and coffee making facilities, a full length mirror, a small mirror with lights round, which I thought would be great for putting make up on, however, the lights were too bright!!

The bathroom was lovely and clean, with really nice smelling soap and shower gel in dispensers, plenty of hot water when we got up for showers at 8am.

We paid £8.95 each to have continental and full English breakfast at the hotel. Which was pretty good, there was a lot of choice, cereal, croissants, toast, yoghurt, fruit, sausage, egg, bacon, beans, hash browns, tomatoes, Orange juice, water, coffee, tea etc.

I had to wait about 15 minutes to check out, due to the lady on the desk being on the phone, lots of other people just put their room keys on the desk, but I didn't know if I needed to do anything else, so I waited. When the lady got off the phone, she said there was nothing else I needed to do. So here's a tip, be like everyone else and it check out is busy, just leave your room key on the desk!

Overall it was a pleasant stay, there were a few scuffs and scrapes on the walls and skirting boards etc, however for a 1 night stay it was more than adequate.

Good efficient
check in. Nice room, clean and really comfortable. Breakfast was nice, plenty of choice. All staff helpful. Close to docks and plenty of restaurants. Parking good in multi story next door.

Hotel is good for a budget hotel. The parking facility, away from the hotel, is very inconveinient and as a new visitor to Southampton, finding it proved to be challenging. The staff in all areas were excellent. I am disappointed with the very long time it took to serve a 2 course meal.

Clean, comfortable and lived up to TV marketing. Good value. However, parking is at West Quay which is very near but NOT 24 hours. We parked at 10pm as it closed! You can drop off cases at the rear of the hotel as it is on a busy road but no onsite parking.

Stayed here Saturday night for the first time. We are great Premier Inn fans because you can more or less rely on the same quality whichever hotel you use. This was no exception. Reception staff were polite and helpful (despite being overwhelmed by the high volume of check-in/check-out traffic). Our room was clean and of reasonable size. The bathroom was clean and had an efficient shower. The kingsize bed was extremely comfortable and despite initial (unfounded) concerns about the potential for noise, we slept well. Only two very mild irritations: 1) having travelled a long way we were glad to have access to a cup of tea - but providing only two tea bags per room is a bit mean, especially if you want a cup of tea the next morning. I dare say we could have asked for more but quite frankly, reception was so busy we just made do and 2) while we had no complaints about the quality of the breakfast, the restaurant is just not big enough to cater for the number of guests. Long queues of hungry people of all ages mixed and mingled with those lucky enough to have been given a table. Maybe the answer to breakfast is to forego your lie-in or eat somewhere else!

Room Tip: Our room (232) was at the end of a corridor and therefore reasonably quiet.

We used this hotel as a base for a 4 night family break with our 2 young children. The room was spacious but the double bed was not particularly comfortable & because of surrounding buildings any loud noise at night echoed around which at times woke myself & my wife but not the children. The room itself was very well soundproofed from any noise within the hotel with acoustic floors to block out any noise from rooms above. As we booked the meal deal We ate in the restaurant every morning & evening, good choice of food for breakfast & good quality. There was also a good choice for evening meals & for an extra £5 per head we got a 2 course meal deal with drink for the children. The service in the restaurant on the first evening was poor but for the following 3 evenings was much improved.Overall a very enjoyable stay.
