“REALLY relaxed family meal - perfect!”
Reviewed 9 February 2014

We booked - having previously enjoyed visits to their busy sister pub Robin Hood at Durley - though probably could have squeezed in without booking.

Nice selection of blackboard meals and another board with specials.

We had such a great welcome and laugh with the staff from when we walked through the door.

Well furnished - coaches and tables, lots of space not crammed together like many pub restaurants.

Nicely kept ale - I chose Black Sheep.

We had artisan breads and olives as a shared starter, then my lad and me had the burger - different toppings and my better half had a green thai curry. We all enjoyed the huge plate fulls of food. Expresso brulee and coffees to finish.

(Well lit car park and decent loos too.)

“Helpful staff”
Reviewed 30 January 2014

24th January - We arrived just before 2.00pm when they stop taking orders for meals, but the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. We had an elderly lady with us and they went to a lot of trouble to serve us with something she would like - haddock, chips and mushy peas. The wood burning stove made the place look and feel cosy as it was horrible outside. Where we sat was quite quirkily decorated - it had a Beryl Cook type mural of the cricket team. We thought the prices were reasonable and would certainly return.

“Very good food.”
Reviewed 20 December 2013

We visited this pub on the busy Friday lunchtime just before Christmas. We had no reservation but just managed to squeeze in at a reserved table with enough time before the reservation.
The food was remarkably good. We shall go again but shall make sure we make a reservation to ensure we have more time.

“great food, good atmosphere”
Reviewed 9 December 2013

Visited this pub on Friday I had the chicken breast with garlic bacon sauce and lyonnaise potatoes. Food was lovely and there was a great atmosphere in the pub, quite quiet for a Friday lunch but still a good atmosphere would recommend anyone to try it if you have never been.

“Better and better”
Reviewed 8 December 2013 via mobile

I visit this pub regularly, it seems to be getting better and better every month, there is a fantastic, upbeat and helpful team there and the food is brilliant. Gone are the days of being able to just walk in an get something to eat at weekends, booking is almost definitely essential! Fantastic pub getting better, keep up the hard work!
