“A Pleasant Evening”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

I was one of a group of four adults visiting this pub, on recommendation, for a special evening meal. We had reserved a table, but when we arrived it hadn't been cleared for us. We had to wait a few minutes but that wasn't a problem.

Our orders were taken fairly promptly and we didn't have to wait too long for our food. We all remarked on how good the meal was (we all had different three-course meals). It was served hot and was well presented, We didn't choose the cheapest items on the menu and, although the bill wasn't small, it didn't represent bad value for money.

We spent a very pleasant evening here. The staff were friendly and helpful and I would be very happy to go back on other occasions.

“Proper country pub”
Reviewed 9 June 2014 via mobile

First time here. Fantastic pub. Great food, huge beer garden and amazing weather yesterday topped it off. Will certainly be coming back!

“Disappointing and pricey!”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

We have dined many times at this pub and, in the past, have been well pleased.
However, we were disappointed with a recent visit on a Saturay afternoon, particularly as the reasonably priced two course menu was no longer available on a Saturday.
Being a nice day, we sat outside but were again disappointed to find the tables and chairs on the little patio had been replaced by unrefined garden benches. It had been nice to have been able to dine properly al fresco.
The menu had increased considerably in price and we thought the Mixed Grill, which my partner had, was over priced at £15.95, particularly as it lacked colour - no peas, onion rings and the like.
I chose the King Prawn Thermidor which had largish prawns in a rather runny cheese sauce - I had to use a spoon - a choice of Dauphinoise Potatoes which was a miserly portion (about 2" x 2") and side salad. This was priced at £12.95 and not worth it.
The dreaded yellow serviettes were evident!
The final insult, having paid restaurant prices, was the girl who delivered the food instructed us to get our cutlery etc from a station. No tip there, then!
I had a Pimms which was well mixed but served without a straw or any of the necessary additions such as mint, cucmber or fruit
So, for ONE course and ONE drink each, the bill was heading for £40.00!
Come on, Farmers Home, you can (and did do) better!

NB Not wheelchair friendly.

“Lovely gluten free food”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

Had a lovely meal followed by a very tasty chocolate Brownie which was gluten free. I was pleasantly surprised by how many options were available gluten free. I will definitely be coming back again.

“Excellent food as always! We have been 20 times and it never disappoints.”
Reviewed 25 May 2014 via mobile

We have 4 pubs nearer to us but we always drive to this one as time after time the food is excellent. We are real foodies and have been over 20 times and never had a bad experience.Good quality food at a reasonable price. Big portions. Nice staff. A real gem! I've taken family and friends here and they then always bring their family and friends. Absolutely nothing negative to say. Amazing bar snacks of home made pork scratchings are a must. Prawn cocktail amazing. Roasts brilliant. Steak and kidney pudding is great.
