“Wonderful stay”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

We stayed here for 2 nights for my birthday. We had wanted to stay at The Pig in Brockenhurst but they could only do 1 of the nights, so opted for The Pig in the Wall instead. The staff were young, friendly and very helpful, and we loved the lounge where you had breakfast, drinks, and light lunches. Very cosy and inviting! Our room had a 4 poster bed and was one of the comfiest I have ever slept in-wonderful! We took the land rover to The Pig for my birthday....as one road was closed, and the other meant driving through a ford to get to The Pig, we were glad to be in the land rover, especially on our return as it had been raining all night, the water was deeper, and we watched a Jag being pulled out of the water! Because of that, we were glad we were at TPITW!

We ate here on my mum's birthday. The bistro is small and comfortable with unique décor - a bit like a Georgian sitting room meets shabby chic! The staff were very friendly and helpful and were welcoming to my two year old grand-daughter. We had a selection of salads, sausage rolls and toasties - all fresh and good tasting. Reasonably priced around £6 each and had a selection of drinks and beverages, including a chai latte. Didn't have time for pudding, but would definitely recommend if you are looking for something different and want a light, healthy lunch.

We went with two other couples and although we would have liked to stay at The Pig in brockenhurst we could not justify the room rates or the minimum 2 night stay over a weekend, so we booked the sister hotel in Southampton instead. We booked via Mr and Mrs Smith so also enjoyed the free perk of access to the spa at Lime Wood during the day. (Amazing value when that is £40 pp). The spa at Lime Wood is the best I have been to, so we were off to a good start. The Pig in the Wall was very homely and quirky. Staff very friendly. They moved us to a comfy room (although we had booked a snug room) but they did try charging for that slight upgrade. We queried and it was sorted. Bed was extremely comfortable and we all commented how the showers were the best we had experienced - a true rain shower. Transfer to The Pig for dinner in the Land Rover was fun with the 6 of us piled in. Meal at The Pig itself was very nice too, we were all rather full though as our sitting was at 9pm was a little late in hindsight. Lastly, although the website said they charge for parking they didn't and the breakfast was very nice although would prefer it if they just included it in the rate and not charge £10pp on top. Would definitely go again.

I have to admit that we really wanted to stay at The Pig in Brockenhurst but it was full and so we opted to stay at The Pig in The Wall (PiTW)and used their Landrover Service to have dinner at The Pig. What a brilliant stroke of good fortune that was. Everything was right about PiTW. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived and we would have loved to have picked up our "Spacious" room and brought it home with us. The room was indeed spacious with its large, comfortable bed, "pantry" (i.e. mini-bar +), separate monsoon shower room and subtle grey/ chalk decor. Shabby-chic is the style and the room balanced both elements really well The downstairs bar/lounge was quirky but homely and the service , drinks, snacks and breakfast were all excellent . It is a neat idea to drive guests over to The Pig for dinner and that too was a really helpful and friendly service. I'd definitely recommend the hotel and would be more than happy to stay again.

We stayed here for one night and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Upon arrival we were greeted outside and our bags were carried in for us. Check is was easy and although our room wasn't ready (we were early), our bags were taken and stored for us as we were going shopping.

The bar/dining area is very quirky with leather sofas, low tables and various armchairs dotted around. Staff were extremely friendly and efficient and we enjoyed some pre-dinner drinks and nibbles before going to The Pig at Brockenhurst (see separate review).

The room was absolutely fantastic. Bed linen, décor and furnishings of the highest quality and the bathroom was huge with a fabulous monsoon shower. (Small gripe was that the heating was not working and also the monsoon shower did tend to leak over the bathroom floor).

We took the free Landrover transfer to Brockenhurst with Paul who was very courteous and chatty during the trip.

Breakfast was a DIY affair and the choice was wonderful. Smoked meats and cheeses, toast, boiled eggs, fruit, museli ... even Cashew nut butter. Lovely fresh juices and of course tea and coffee.

When we checked out we wanted to explore and they very kindly offered to look after our bags for us for the day until our train time.

In short, there are too many fabulous things about this place to write them all. Suffice to say if you want to go somewhere where you are treated wonderfully, courteously and where nothing is too much trouble in superbly furnished surroundings, then The Pig at Southampton is the place for you.

Can't wait to see Cameron at The Pig near Bath next year.

Discovered this surprise when Walking the Walls and popped in for a light lunch and was so impressed came back for an early light supper (served until 7pm).
Food is very reasonably priced (with local ingredients), as are the wines with a nice choice. Attentive and friendly staff and love the country house shabby chic interior. Will definitely come again!

We had a wonderful stay at The Pig In The Wall after an amazingly luxurious spa day at their sister establishment, Lime Wood Hotel. Paul graciously picked us up in the Land Rover from Lime Wood and our stay from then on at The Pig was perfect.

The room was plush and comfortable, and we both agreed that the bedding was easily the most luxurious we have slept in! The room and bathroom were tastefully outfitted and the wonderfully huge shower added the finishing touch.

The buffet breakfast in the very cute restaurant was lovely; no room here for greasy fry-ups, instead we enjoyed a more refined boiled egg & soldiers, smoked local meats, cheese, toast, and delicious coffee.

The atmosphere at the hotel and in the bar in the evening was very relaxed and inviting. We would not hesitate to visit again and can recommend without reservation this top-notch hotel. Service at The Pig and Lime Wood is first-class, it has been a long time since I have felt so well-treated and welcomed.

Thank you.
