Premier Inn Southampton Airport Hotel
Ranked #6 of 25 Hotels in Southampton
Reviewed 29 April 2012

This is our second visit in the last six months and was again very good. When we booked, we phoned and asked for a top floor room overlooking the airport, and we got exactly what we wanted - at the far end of the corridor nearest the terminal. As others have suggested the room was very quiet - no aircraft noise, no-one above us, and neighbours on one side only.

Like other Premier Inns, the standard was consistent - the room was clean, the bed comfortable, tea and coffee available in the room, free wifi for half an hour (£3 for 24 hours). The staff were friendly and helpful.

We took the Meal Deal in the restaurant - £22 for a three-course meal including a drink, plus the full breakfast the next day. For what we paid, the evening meal was good. The choice was a bit limited, but I'm quite happy with Steak and chips, and there was more than enough to eat.

The breakfast was very good - a selection of cereals, bread, croissants, fruit, fruit juice, teas, coffee etc, as well as a hot buffet selection. I've stayed in other Premier Inns where the breakfast is cooked to order, but the turnover of guests here is sufficient to ensure that there is a plentiful supply of cooked items that have not been hanging around for too long.

All in all, a good hotel.

Room Tip: Top floor airport side is good, but I've not stayed on the other side.

As you'd expect of the newer Premier Inns, this property has everything you need for a stopover hotel. All areas were spotlessly clean (apart from some dust on the "Stella" pump at the bar), the bed was comfortable, the shower powerful and the food in the restaurant was excellent. The meal deal is extremely good value and very well cooked. The staff were all very friendly and efficient and they also managed to stop a group of junior rugby club players from going bananas in the carpark and potentially damaging cars with luggage trollies whilst the people who should have been taking responsibility for the group sat in the bar drinking!!! We stopped here on our way to the ferry terminal and it's an easy 10 minute drive down to the dock - we'll certainly stay her again.

Room Tip: Our room was facing the airport, but we weren't disturbed by any aircraft noise

Stayed there for an early morning flight from Southampton Airport. Staff were very welcoming and food in restaurant for dinner was really good. Room was very good except couldn't find instructions for air-conditioning/heating. Eventually worked it outso we could get the room cool enpough for sleeping.

I stayed here for 2 nights as part of a Premier Inn £29 per night room offer.

Although being next to the airport (you can see the planes from the room if your facing the airport) I was able to sleep well at night even with the window open. The last aircraft lands around 8pm (ish) and the first flight of the day is about 8.30am so getting to sleep is no problem.

The car park is barrier operated but free to people staying in the premier inn, you just hand your ticket from the barrier over to the reception staff who give you another ticket to get out.

The lady who checked me in and delt with me throughout my stay (Kerry or Kelly) deserves a special mention as she always had a smile on her face and nothing was too much trouble for her. After I mentioned that I was woken up at 1am by a drunken party a few rooms away from my own, she was full of appologies and offered me my money back (this was declined as 10 mins after I was woken, I was able to sleep again) she also seemed to really care about the customers staying in the premier inn.

Room Tip: I was on the 2nd floor and sometimes could hear people on the 3rd floor moving around. So if you are...
