Reviewed 29 January 2013

We were expecting some traffic noise due to the location but pleasantly surprised to find none. Rooms clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and efficient. We were impresssed with the breakfast on offer after a great nights sleep. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again in the future,

Great loaction for Mayflower theatre and shopping centre. Easy to get too & comfertable stay.

Would bother with the all you can eat breakfast as overpriced and wasnt very nice when we stayed, Theres a wetherspoons down the road that offse a better brekkie and cheaper!

The staff were very friendly at this hotel & will help you in any way, evern gave us take away menus to order from when we got back to our room! We'd defintely stay again.

This Premier Inn is exactly what is says on the tin. It's part of their corporate offering and if you are familiar with them then there is no need to explain more. A good quality budget hotel, where anything in addition to your room is additional. So no surprises. We found our stay conformable for what we wanted. Good price when booked direct on line, Warm welcome when we arrived, Clean & modern room quality, Met all our expectations of a Premier Inn. Some room for improvement ?

Car Parking
The car park is small and if you come back late in the evening its very often difficult to gain a space. They charge £ 4 per day or part thereof, which does seem a little harsh as you are staying at the hotel - it would be a good idea to loose the charges in the room costs and be done.

Internet
You get 30 minutes internet free of charge, then pay £ 3 per day if you want more. 30 minutes is enough each day to check your emails and look up somewhere you are going. However, this is an old fashioned concept now - most independent hotels provide full WiFi access free of charge. Journey through Europe and USA and WiFi comes as standard.

Bar & Restaurant
Restaurant is reasonable value for money if you really don't want to go out. Do watch the bar prices however they can be a little steep if you decide to have a nightcap.

In all its a budget hotel that charges you for anything extra you need, but if you don't use extras you get a good deal. Addressing these three issues would probably make return traffic increase, as their competition would find it difficult to meet - however, as always, they are a commercial business and would need to see if that loss in income produced repeat traffic growth.

In short, we will continue to use Premier Inn as a good 'stop over' when in the UK.

This is the second time my husband & i with the kids have stayed at this hotel within a year. Came back here again to visit family & promised the kids we'd stay at this hotel again as they love the breakfast!! Always managed to get a parking space so far, reception welcome is simply the best, really good staff, friendly, cheerful & helpful. The room is just what you need for a few nights, comfortable, warm & good bathroom with shower over bath. Tea & coffee facilities. The welcome at breakfast is lovely, get shown to a table, everything is explained clearly, food is lovely with choice of tea, coffee, juices etc & there is lots there for my kids to enjoy so they have a good hearty breakfast. Its a shame when we leave but will be back!!

We stayed for 2 nights recenty. This was our 2nd visit to Premier Inn and I was bowled over by their excellence on the first occasion - this was slightly different. The room looked the same and was very clean and comfortable but on our first night, we lay awake for 35 mins hoping the loud noise from the bathroom fan would stop. Eventually we rang down to ask about it and it seemed this was a fault and we needed to change rooms. We hastily repacked and were led to another floor - this is the first time in my life I have wandered around a hotel after midnight in my nightclothes carrying my bags! We settled down again and then our neighbours returned from a night out. They were doing nothing wrong - talking normally and using the bathroom - but we heard every minute of it and were unable to get to sleep until they had finished showering etc. The following evening we returned late from a day out to find that the room was extremely cold - the inside windows were open. We looked at the CH switch to find that the malfunction sign was showing and rang down to report it, only to be told that we would need to change rooms! Again we hastily repacked and set off for yet another floor! This time I am happy to say we were still dressed. We settled down in the new room but were woken at 3.00am by neighbours returning. iAgain, the noise was not excessive and we could not have complained about it but we heard the toilet being used, then the shower and conversation. I don't think they were being inconsiderate - I think the walls must be too thin. We also heard the sound of the railway line but this was not excessive either and it did not wake us. The member of staff who conducted us to our third room offered, without our asking, to refund the previous nights charge under their 'good night's sleep' policy so we shall wait to see if it turns up on our credit card. All of this apart, the facilities and amenities were good, the room clean and comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. Lets hope this was a 'one-off'.

Room Tip: Make sure your bathroom fan switches off immediately when the light goes off. If it doesn't you...

We booked Into the Premier Inn with a view to a shopping weekend . On arrival the appearance is a little stark from the outside but the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Very secure access and you can only use the lift using your room keys. Room was very clean and comfortable. The bar and restaurant is very good. We went to the bar late afternoon for a costa coffee and a beer but staff were a bit sparse and it took a while for them to realise that we were there. We had an evening meal but the food was not brilliant but the breakfast was great. The hotel is situated within easy walking distance to the shopping center .Good Value and we will definatley use again

We stayed in this hotel with a couple of friends last July for the P and O Grand Event and were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel and its room were spotless and the staff extremely friendly. We opted for the Meal Deal which was excellent value for money. The service was good if not 5-star but on the second night, the place was crammed with cruisers and the service became chaotic. They seemed to have reserved seats twice over and there was around a 1-1/2 hour delay. This was a special occasion and I think they were simply overwhelmed but we were compensated with a complimentary bottle of wine.

On that occasion we were staying just for the Grand event as spectators but we have just booked again for this year's pre-cruise stay.

Room Tip: Although there's a good night's sleep promise, there's a railway right next to the hotel...
