Handy for all aspects of getting around Southampton City centre without having to use the car. The Hotel was comfortable and clean. The staff were polite and helpful. My husband and I have stayed on numerous occasions whilst out daughter has been at university in Southampton.

All you can expect from a premier inn, clean and tidy, helpfull friendly staff, only down side was about 240 rooms and only 50 car parking spaces, if youare lucky enough to find a space you still have to pay £4.00 on top of the room price.so not full marks from me this time.

We had a lovely family weekend at this Premier Inn. The rooms were lovely, very comfortable and clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the breakfast and dinner were very good value. Highly recommended

The first Premier Inn I have not liked, here are the reasons:

The car park is tiny, first come first served, however if you park and pay reception £4 you get a slip of paper to leave in the window that serves as a parking ticket. but once you have parked you cannot leave as they cannot guarantee your space !

Visiting your room requires you to swipe your card to call the left, however the things works one in a few dozen tries, I thought it was my card, they changed it, the same problem, then a member of staff said that it was faulty and they were waiting for it to be repaired, it had been like that for a while !

So once you have fought to get into the lift and got to your room all is good, well kind of, it felt like a travelodge, it was old, tired and in need of a refurbish, an old square TV, paint looked worn and mastic in the bathroom was dull and moldy.

It took the strength of two to turn off the taps and then they dripped!

The restaurant in the evening was not busy but we waited a very long time for the run of the mill food, from the time we sat down to the time we left was 2 hours ! We had driven for 5 hours and just wanted to eat and sleep! We did get an apology but not an explanation.

Breakfast was OK but having the tables cleared around you whilst you are eating is a bit intimidating, it was 20 minutes before breakfast finished after all.

The highlight was the young lady receptionist that checked us in, she was superb, friendly, informative and we felt she wanted to to everything she could to ensure our stay was a good one.

Room Tip: If you just ordered breakfast when you booked but fancy eating the restaurant when you arrive, ask f...

Very good room to the normal standards expected from this hotel chain with efficient and friendly reception staff. The only downside was that the small "Pay & Display" hotel car park was full by the time I arrived and the alternative parking is the other side of a major urban junction. A map is provided to find this but during the three minute walk back I had to pass through a subway which some might find a little daunting late at night.

So, first of all the good points:

-Relatively central
-Rooms are cheap

Now the bad:

-Every time you want to use the lift from the ground floor, you need to swipe your room key. This would be ok if the reader device wasn't temperamental, thus causing you to spend a lot of time attempting something simple.

-Corridor exit/fire doors. These weigh a ton, wouldn't be an issue apart from the fact that I have limited mobility and it's a pain to open.

-Carpets. The corridor ones being the worst, as they are deep pile it really hampered my walking.

-Bath mats, not one in the disabled bath, kinda necessary!

-Breakfast @ £8.95! Ok, so it's a eat as much as you want deal, but there's only so many sausages & bacon rashes you can eat. We went to London Road and had breakfast for £3.

Etap down by the station is by far the best. Ok, it's cheap and cheerful, but the issues above aren't the case.

I am always happy to stay at Premier Inn. Everything about it is good and the price is always reasonable. This one was no exception. Clean, comfortable, friendly staff and as always, a cracking breakfast!
