“Great value city centre hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2014

I stayed at this hotel for two nights in early March as i was visiting Southampton to see my daughters who are at University here. It is in an excellent location for shopping, eating out etc being only a very short walk to the city centre. I would highly recommend it for price, the only downside is that the bar does not open until 5pm, however there a plenty of other places close by. I will stay there again next time.

Stayed March 2014, travelled solo

I stayed just one night at this Premier Inn and it was just fine. The check in was smooth and hassle free, the bar and restaurant served good food and the bed as advertised was very comfortable.

All these things you would really expect from adecent hotel the one thing that sets this one apart is the attitude of the staff, the seemed genuinely happy to serve and make your stay as pleasant as possible.

Would recommend without a doubt.

I expected this hotel to be quite noisy as it was based on a busy main road and had a lot people staying. There was some noise from the railway behind the hotel but that stopped by late evening and my room was so peaceful that I slept through my alarm. The food in the restaurant was very good and the service was excellent. A few bits of decor needed attending to hence the lower mark for the room

Room Tip: Fifth floor end of corridor was very quiet

Stayed here to combine a visit with my bff who's birthday it was and visit to see my daughter and her god daughter.
Welcome was excellent with the receptionist helping me to the room with bags where my friend had already checked in.
On initial siting the room was good. Then you started to look a bit harder. The curtains had holes in them where the sun had burned them!, the sink was needing some mastic and the surround had faded from repeated cleaning with harsh products.
On visiting the bar that night as the weather was attrocious, we found we were asked to leave at 11pm. I always thought that as resident you were entitled to drink beyond "pub hours". If we were the only ones there I might have understood it but we weren't and the other customers were as disgruntled as ourselves.

If you need to stay in Southampton I would stay in the West Quay one rather than this.

Very friendly reception and restaurant staff- We would certainly stay here again. Arrive early if you need to get a parking space as limited availability for parking. Very easy access to shopping and Mayflower Theatre.

Our first ever experience in a Travelodge. On arrival we were met by a very helpful car park attendent who found us a space in a very limited car park. The reception staff were also very welcoming. Our room was very basic, much in need of redecoration, but clean! Bed was very uncomfortable, we both had a very poor nights sleep!

Excellent value hotel, brilliant location. Only downside was the train line running directly under our room which disturbed your sleep.
I know it's petty, but they supplied a bottle opener in the room, but you cannot get a bottle under it!

Room Tip: Ask for one away form the train line
