Stayed here for a 3 night business trip in August 2008.

Much improved since my other review.

The check in staff were very efficient and helpful. There was very little noise from the railway, even with a 1st floor room looking over it. The food was of a good quality and not too expensive.

The breakfast was very good. Lots to choose from and it was all available in good quantities. It was tended to by the staff and kept fresh etc.

The room was fine. A good size with flat screen TV, bath/shower with gallons of hot water, and surprisingly the most comfy king sized bed I have ever slept in.

Overall I cannot fault this hotel. Comfy beds, a quiet night and good food are to be found. And if you don’t sleep well they guarantee your money back!

Stayed here for two nights, convenient for city centre and Solent university. Staff were very friendly and helpful on all occasions. The room and bathroom were both a good size and clean with efficient air conditioning. There was a train track outside my room but the noise was not bothersome and with double glazing closed I was not woken up at all.
Overall I would not hesitate to stay here again especially if good rates were available through website.

We stayed at the Premier Inn for two nights in August. The hotel is conveniently located just in the centre of the city and is easy to find. If you are looking for a cheap, clean, quiet hotel then this is the one for you.

Good points: Friendly staff, Clean, Comfortable bed, Nicely decorated rooms, Nice bathroom, Remarkably quiet given the fact that it is right next door to a train line

Bad points: Car park usually full but council owned car park nearby - parked my car here on both nights and it seemed safe enough, with good lighting and CCTV

Didn't try the food so can't really comment

Definitely good value for money.

We stayed here on 11th June 08 as we were seeing Bon Jovi at St. Marys and wanted reasonable hotel within walking distance to the stadium. This is exactly what we got. It is clean and basic but all you need for a comfortable night stay. There is a tv in the room, ensuite bathroom and tea and coffee making facilities (although they could leave a couple more teabags, one a day is not enough!). It is close to the high street and a lovely park near by. I have two complaints. The bed is very soft! The mattress practically envelops you as you lie on the bed. Secondly, they pretty much doubled the price on the internet due to there being a concert and high demand for rooms (which I guess is good business sense but not so pleasing for customers. Breakfast is all you can eat and pretty good but very pricey at £7.50 each!

This is an okay hotel. The location is quite good, and is an easy walk from the train station but, the reception was slow and not terribly helpful. My room on the first floor was also right next to a busy train track, which was loud and rumbling in the morning. If you need a place to crash the Premier Inn is fine, it's clean and safe, but shop around and see if you can get a better deal!

This is the second year I've "stayed" (see below) in the Premier Inn for business. It gets booked for me, so I just take what I'm given. Usually. Last year it was OK, although the place was smoky and breakfast mediocre and over-priced - and what's with the excessive security? You can't even get to the lifts without your key. This year our "no smoking room" stank of cigarette smoke. Instead of just offering us a new room, they said they'd send the housekeeper up, but after a while waiting, we gave up. Then it turned out that it was the only room left in the hotel - at 6 pm! So we just left and looked for somewhere else - the only time in my life I think I've done that. Reception didn't seem to give a damn. There's no way I'm going back there.
