We spent the weekend here and had a lovely time. We didn't eat there, but the breakfast was very good. We had drinks in the bar and the service was friendly and attentive. The room was good and very comfortable. I wish we had been there longer, but we'll definitely go back.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 9 at the end so didn't have anyone walking past our room on the wooden path.

I stayed recently with my husband and really cannot fault the Running Horse. Everything went like clockwork and I really enjoyed the hot English Breakfast made to order. The evening meal was superb and presented very well. A good choice of dinner along with a lighter meal if you so wish.
The ambience is relaxed and the decor very tasteful, I felt relaxed throughout my stay without feeling "fussed over" but you could feel the staff were there to see to your every wish.
A very efficient service was provided in all respects and this must be down to the manager who
is an attentive charming man who pays attention to detail.
I cannot wait to go back........

We stayed just one night but will definitely go back. We needed somewhere to stay whilst visitng family in Hampshire and were encouraged by the positive reviews here.
The room was just as described and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was excellent and served with a smile. Really cannot fault anything about The Running Horse and 100% recommend it.

I stayed here for a couple of nights while visiting family who live nearby. The rooms have recently been refurbished and have been very nicely done. Breakfast was lovely, with a nice choice of hot and cold food. Unfortunately we were not as impressed with the dinner that we had - I don't think it helped that we were served by a new member of staff who wasn't too sure of what they were doing e.g. they forgot to show us a specials board which, when we noticed it later on, had some great sounding dishes on it. However, I do appreciate that everyone has to learn and in the scheme of thing it wasn't a big issue!

Overall a very nice stay.

Excellent stay. Food was second to none as was the service, we arrived in the rain and was met by a staff member with a big brolly .The only downside was other guests walking directly past your room window.I do wonder just how hot the rooms could get in summer though !

Room Tip: All rooms are the same although a room away from the main building would mean less footfall past the...

We stayed at the Running Horse last weekend as we were invited to a local wedding.
It is only three miles from Winchester.
The accomodation was spacious, well appointed and clean.
The pub had been renovated a few months ago, but managed to retain its character as a viliage pub.
We only stayed for breakfast, but saw what was being served for lunch and dinner, the quality was very apparent.
The staff are very helpful, friendly and efficient, not really what you would expect in the UK.
This Inn is a gem, stay there, that's an order.

Wanted a pub with rooms a reasonable distance travel to the boatshow in Southampton and within easy reach of Winchester station to drop off a relative en route. Perfect location for our needs. Staff made us feel very welcome and executed their jobs efficiently without being over - baring. Breakfast and dinner both superb and our room was 'exactly what it says on the tin'. Tasteful refurb and a small number of rooms. Thinking of reasons to revisit soon - don't think that'll be a problem.
