The location gets 5 stars. Right in the heart of the lovely village of Winchester.
It seems they are undergoing a renovation at the moment. So when you do check-in / make a reservation confirm if you are in the modern part or old part. We were in the latter.
The room was a nice size, nice bathroom and view of the cathedral. No Air Conditioning in the old rooms.
The staff is average. They do their best but if the GM would just take the time to train them a bit more this could go from a average hotel to suberb. To me in hospitality, service is paramount. Luca was the best employee.
They do not have any connections to the fabulous restaurants in town which is quite disappointing. I attended a wedding there and the reception was flawless; service was 5 stars and the food as well.
By American standards I would say it is similar to a Marriott but could be a gem after they work out a few issues.
