“best conference venue”

One doesn't expect a conference venue to be able to uphold all the qualities of a top class hotel with over 100 delegates to be looked after and meals to be served in large groups. Marwell excelled. The staff were most helpful and courteous, the food was superb although the smell of freshly baking cookies was a bit distracting during the early morning seminar! Thankfully all was forgiven when those same cookies were served at morning coffee, still warm. This home baking continued with little treats at every refreshment break. Quite superb. Well done Marwell.

Lovely location, friendly staff, good food, interesting if somewhat ageing buildings. No complaints. As a conference venue it was very comfortable. The Oakwood room could do with better acoustics, all other rooms were excellent.

Stayed 2 nights here for a family wedding which took place at the zoo. Was charged £114 per night (including breakfast) for a twin room which was later reduced to £94 when I queried it based upon what others were paying. The hotel is nice but tired in places especially the rooms.

We arrived on the Friday afternoon. Check in was straightforward and staff professional. Having put our bags in the room (204) we went to the bar for a drink. A white wine spritzer and a pint of Stella were reasonably priced but £3.50 for a small packet of vegetable crisps? I dont think so!

The beds (one double one single) were ok but gooness knows what the pillows were made of - lumps of foam I think. A reasonable nights sleep was had though. Breakfast was quite good - service was efficient and friendly and food tasty.

All in all it is a reasonable hotel but it does need some updating. Didn't try the swimming pool

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent visit to Marwell Hotel.

We are sorry for the confusion with your room rate; but glad this was rectified efficiently.

Unfortunately with the hotel being over 25 years old, there are some areas that are in need of refurbishing, however please do be assured we are aware of the areas and are in the process of renovating the hotel – this will take time as we would like to ensure as little disruption to our guests as possible. We have recently completed 10 executive bedrooms to a high modern finish, as well as our main function room, Oakwood, and the last six months has seen paintwork being completed in public areas and our four other function rooms, as well as new lighting. Please be assured that improvements are constantly being made and that we do listen to our customer feedback.

We are glad to hear that check-in was quick and efficient and that the staff you encountered were professional. All of our staff are passionate in providing a high level of customer service to ensure our guests have a enjoyable stay.

We are sorry you feel the price of our crisps was unreasonable – your comments are appreciated.

We are glad you found our bedrooms suitable and your comments regarding the pillows will be investigated by our head housekeeper.

I love the Marwell Hotel. It's cosy, very nice surroundings and the staff are friendly. Have stayed here twice before and would definitely stay again.The rooms are all like lodges in a safari park. Just a very nice place to stay.

We stayed here for two nights for my daughters wedding in June 2014. The rooms are set behind the main building in a linked series of "lodges" blending into the woodland very well. The rooms are tired looking and have none of the facilities that you expect in a hotel in this price bracket, no fridge, no safe, no air con., the carpets are stained and the furniture is old fashioned and tired looking. The breakfast was very good and we had an evening meal which good, the pool is ok, a bit small but fine. The staff were all excellent. As an aside, my daughters wedding was organized y the hotel wedding planner and could not be faulted, the whole day went brilliantly, no complaints there at all.

We are pleased you enjoyed our hotel setting and layout with the bedroom lodges. We are sorry you felt our rooms are tired however please be assured we are in the process of renovating our bedrooms and have completed 10 executive rooms to a high standard which include extra facilities required by many guests. We do also have eight bedrooms fitted with air conditioning, so please do feel free to request these (at no extra charge) if you stay with us again in the future.

Arrived with a couple of friends who agreed reception was overcrowded and intimidating with lots of wedding guests in reception area. Staff were friendly and polite during 1 night stay. Hens near building were smelly for all of us and Bird poo on external buildings and Windows. Our room was good (apart from peeling wallpaper) Pool was small, but okay and sauna wasn't hot and you couldn't get it hotter. Would have liked robes for after swim. Breakfast (included in price) was excellent. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay again and would recommend it.

Room Tip: Don't know what it cost and what type of room we had, but it was room 306 on the ground floor...

Many thanks for your feedback from your recent stay with us here at Marwell Hotel.

We do try to ensure all our functions have minimal impact on our other residents and we are sorry on this occasion the wedding party were within the lounge area – often when the weather is not on our side our wedding guests do return to the lounge for the welcome drinks for a short amount of time.

It is great to hear our staff were all friendly and polite.

Please be assured our residential chickens are kept clean and away from the main buildings so they do not disrupt our guests stay unless they are willing to visit them – we are currently looking into our wildlife and evaluating their areas around the hotel so please be reassured your comments are valued by our management team.

Our windows are cleaned on a regular basis. Due to the amount of wildlife in our surrounding woodlands and also the amount of external glass allowing us to appreciate the beautiful views, on occasion there is the odd 'mess' made, but this is always dealt with swftly.

We would also like to reassure you that the bedrooms are in the process of being renovated and we have recently completed 10 bedrooms to a high specification, which we are very proud of. Our refurbishment process is ongoing.

We are sorry to hear that you experienced a couple of problems in our leisure club – our leisure club manager has been informed of these issues and is investigating the problems highlighted. He has also taken your comments on board regarding bath robes and will see if these are possible to supply in the near future.

had looked at this place before and was keen to stay, first impressions very good , hotel is very light and clean and is set in really nice grounds.
Room was also very good. Only negative was time it took to get dinner once ordered , the hotel had a large party in the night i stayed which caused this problem .

would definitely stay again though .
