Really enjoyed my stay here. We arrived Friday evening and the reception was very friendly and professional.
Facilities were excellent with a good gym and nice pool. Breakfast was nice with usual hot foods and fruit. Again service was great in the restaurant.

Rooms were spacious and shower was hot and strong, just how i like it.

If i have to be picky then parking was a bit of a pain as there is limited parking or you have to use the Pay and display.

Would stay here again.

We booked a 2 night 'Heritage Break' with 'Great little breaks' which on the face of it was excellent value. However, we were delighted to discover we had been booked into a lovely hotel.
The great service commenced at reception where the member of staff could not have been more helpful. We were early after an extremely long journey and after checking with housekeeping we were able to book into our room. She explained the hotel facilities and provided a map of Winchester, pointed out the route to the city centre and various places of interest.
The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. Any hotel personnel we met were really friendly and polite. The dinners we had each evening were excellent, great presentation and service. Breakfasts were equally as good with a huge selection. There are other facilities such as the Health Club & Spa which unfortunately we didn't have the time to visit, but we certainly will on our next visit. Winchester is a fabulous city and with such a great hotel we had a memorable break.

Room Tip: We had a room at the front of hotel which was very quiet.

We stayed in this hotel 3 nights before Easter on a couples break and the Hotel was superb.
The décor when you enter the hotel reception is very modern and clean with a bar and relaxing area.
We had nothing to complain about at all. We got parked every day in the hotel carpark but if not there is adequate parking at the front, even though its pay and display the cost is not to be twisted at compared to other hotel parking around the uk at least you can park near the hotel in a quiet area.
The room was lovely and clean, modern and maids in every day, lovely and warm, nice big tv and bathroom was spotless, fridge topped up water daily. Very quiet on an evening.
Its only approx a 5-10 mins walk into Winchester where there are many restaurants and bars. Ideal base to travel to surrounding area.
We used the health facilities which are adequate, the gym has enough variety of equipment and has a lovely pool, sauna and Jacuzzi area.
We ate in the hotel on 1 evening and the meal was lovely, the breakfast choice was brilliant with everything you could want from a full English to cereals, pastrys etc.
I seriously cant understand any complaints against this hotel and we will be visiting again this year.

We booked this through great little breaks and got a good deal....... wonder why ? Firstly they had no booking for us and we had to wait for a room to be located and put this blame onto great little breaks ........ later after discussions withe great little breaks it turned out to be the hotels fault.
ruined our entire weekend.

Breakfast is the worst i have ever had...refunded 10 pounds . Plus side the location was great but wish had booked elsewhere with all the problems.

Big let down and having complained i receive a free upgrade next time yipeeeee. We wont be returning. Go elsewhere.

From a hotel perspective The Winchester Hotel is excellent. I had thought it would just be a bog-standard hotel, but I was pleasantly surprised. The staff could not have been more helpful, giving advice when needed, help when required.

The rooms at first glance are not much, but they are in fact well appointed and comfortable. Parking is limited, but it is easy enough to get a space if one is not available straightaway.

The restaurant is great, perfect for our twenty-person get-together, and food came in a timely fashion. The food was also pretty good and varied.
The walk into town is about 10 mins, you are just on the edge of everything and Winchester is such a lovely city.

The one downside, the SPA. To not offer robes for before/after treatments and one towel for the whole time you are there is not good - at times you are having to dry yourself off with a towel which is already wet. Having experienced a lot of SPAs from around the world, this one does not rate highly.

Unless you really care about the SPA, which is truly the only let down, this is an absolutely excellent place to stay.

Room Tip: Visit Abbey Gardens, fantastic location.
