A great central location and quiet even though not far from roads. We stayed on a Sunday when car parking in front is free. Our room was located just above the pool, tastefully decorated with furniture in art deco style and relaxing colour scheme. Slightly dark room but with lights on it was very cosy. The room was fresh and very clean and the double bed was very comfortable.

The breakfast buffet looks impressive with an amazing selection, but the hot food although looking perfect was not very tasty. Need to source some better produce-perhaps do less.

Overall an enjoyable but brief stay in Winchester..

Stayed two nights here in April 2014 and was very impressed.
The hotel is lovely. The staff were professional and polite at all times (with the exception of the spa staff who were too busy chatting amongst themselves, but this is a minor complaint).
The rooms were a good size and the bed was very comfy. The flat screen TV was great too.
We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was delicious. Lots of choice and again great service by the staff.
The location of the hotel is great, a 5 minute walk to the town centre. Would recommend Rimjhim Indian Restaurant to eat as it was brilliant! But avoid the Wetherspoons there.
We used the swimming pool and sauna/steam room once which was very pleasant. It was kept very clean.
The only niggle we had was that the hotel charged to park in their car park. They charge 24hours a day, so a little tip - park in the car park next to the hotel as they only charge at certain hours and it was much cheaper.
Overall a great stay!

Hotel was a short walk from the city centre and the breakfast good and room was quiet.
However the room we had needed a revamp! Bed was too soft, the carpet had lumps in the floor, the ceiling seemed to be peeling away from the wall, there was barely any hot water and it was fickle when there was any and there was no lighting in the toilet part of the bathroom making it very dingy at night.
The reception staff may need some lessons in customer service - some to smile and others to be less confident as it came across as arrogant - however can not fault bar or breakfast staff.
Not sure you can call this a spa hotel the facilities were bad. Pool very small, pool freezing with a hose pumping cold water continuously, jacuzzi was tiny and seemed to not quite be working right, bubbles were creating a foamy scum that kept me away, the sauna was small and the wooden slates to sit on were splintering which isn't great when you are in swim wear, didn't get to try the steam room it was always too busy.
On arrival the reception and bar area gives off 4 star, the further into the hotel you get not so much.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review of the hotel.

Whilst all customer feedback is important to us - and we are by no means perfect - It is with respect that I must disagree with your description of our Spa and bedrooms - and these do not seem to be reflective of other reviews of the hotel either.

The hotel is very fortunate to have excellent housekeeping and maintenance teams who are dedicated to maintaining the fabric of the hotel. I am very sorry that you felt that this was not the case for your stay.

Looked for a hotel to stay at Winchester for a couple of nights, but wanted a pool or leisure facilities. Found this hotel - the only one in the area. Was a little wary so I checked out the location. -(no good if it was miles away from anywhere) Was amazed when I found it was right in the town centre - 5 minutes walk away. Plenty of parking on site - lovely restaurant with a great menu. Pool on site with good facilities. Rooms really good - bed large and comfy. Flat screen TV, bathroom/shower very up market. If you check on their website - book direct - they sometimes have weekend deals which include an evening meal. Rooms looked refurbished. Tea and coffee in the room. Will definitely go back - lovely!!!

Room Tip: All seems good

Stayed one night April 2014 with friends. Excellent hotel, rooms well designed (they don't put piles of written information all over the worktops). Very comfortable beds, location is ideal for short walk to Winchester town, food is fabulous - had lunch, 3 course dinner and breakfast. Must have a conscientious chef as all was fresh and varied, and little touches like dressing on the salads, really fresh fruit salad, crispy bacon. Don't know about the Spa, but had an excellent massage rated at 8/10. All staff were helpful, polite and professional. Air con works and individually controlled by guest. Would stay there again.

Room Tip: Had a room overlooking main car park but was not noisy. Friend had one overlooking private car park - again very quiet.
