I have already reviewed this restaurant before but felt i had to comment again, when i booked i only mentioned in passing that it was my wedding anniversary, when we arrived they had decorated the table with happy wedding anniversary confetti, it was a beautiful gesture to make our evening special, the food was wonderful and the service fantastic. The staff are so friendly and make you feel special, the food is presented wonderfully and tastes amazing. I cant praise this restaurant enough, it is a little gem in winchester, at the end of our meal they even gave us a beautifully presented dessert just for us, thank you kyoto for making our evening special. My only tip would be to book in advance as its always fully booked!

We've been to Kyoto Kitchen 3 times now and it's become a firm favourite with really great food on offer. There's room for improvement front of house, but I have noticed things getting better since our first visit in 2013. Carry on the good work.

Run by the same family as the Bangkok Brasserie I believe, with as much care and attention been taken over the food preparation and service - as you would hope for in a Japanese restaurant. Yes, the tables are close together, but don't let this put you off. The staff are pleasant and professional and we couldn't fault the food and wine.

We have just had one of the best evenings in this fantastic restaurant. This was a new experience for my husband and I having never had Japanese food before so in the company of some great friends, we spent the evening in Kyoto Kitchen and we are truly converted. The atmosphere is wonderful, very small and intimate without feeling cramped, and the food (we had the taster menu) was superb from beginning to end. The staff were attentive without being 'hovering' and at the end, the owner came over (apparently our friends are regulars!) to ask about our evening and introduce us to the delight that is sake, at 20% proof, now that's an end to an evening! We are coming back!

Went to the Kyoto kitchen last week on a rainy Friday after shopping in Winchester. Chose it completely based on its ranking for Winchester and location.
We felt quite cramped and jammed in from the start and when we asked for more space we were put downstairs in by the toilets in a somewhat after thought of a room.
Maybe it was due to where we were but the service was so slow, 20 minutes for drinks and a further 15 for our starters which although very tasty (tempura prawns) the prawns were only just warm, the gyoza again barely warm. The sushi was ok but the prawn tempura roll was quite greasy.
Main courses (delivered 1hr 30 min after ordering) were just ok, nothing special. Didn't have dessert as had a booked train.
We left feeling deflated and slightly annoyed. I don't think Winchester has too much of a food culture if this was one of the very best.
