“Five star!”
Reviewed 8 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

I stayed in this wonderful cottage in Winchester for a week as a base to visit friends and family in the area. The location is simply second to none. It is literally 5 minutes walk to the lovely high Street of Winchester, along with some of the best restaurants, with a petrol station and Tesco Express 2 minutes in the other direction. All of this, yet on an extremely quiet road with no through traffic. The cottage is beautifully appointed - wonderful art on the walls, every mod con in the kitchen and bathroom, underfloor heating, lovely natural light throughout, high speed wifi and probably the most luxurious bathrobe I have ever come across! The outside area is delightful with a great patio and long garden area. I really did feel completely at home - even the neighbour gave me some flowers from her garden for the house! And the champagne and chocolates on arrival were a lovely touch. There are two parking options - either permit or allocated space. I used the permit and didn't ever have problem finding a space in the surrounding roads, but some people may prefer the convenience of the space to save a drive around in the evening. I honestly wouldn't change a thing and will definitely be back.

“Glorious Birthday Weekend”
Reviewed 8 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

What a lovely weekend we had. Nigel the owner was so welcoming and helpful. He even helped my husband with parking the car - none of us are good at parallel parking! The sheer quality of the accommodation was outstanding and even in the intense heat the cottage was cool and comfortable. The rear patio garden was a delight. There were many little things that made this a great experience, from the milk in the fridge, a proper teapot and the teabags..... And of course the welcoming full sized bottle of champagne in the top hat wine cooler.

The cottage is close to lots of wonderful restaurants and we certainly enjoyed those, but on the other hand you can get takeaways and enjoy them in the fantastic accommodation.. It is also a great base to explore Winchester, a place we have visited many times before. But this time we saw far more than ever before and could have happily stayed for a whole week. And we only live 30 miles away!

It is my 60th birthday next year and a week in the cottage is in competition with a trip on the Orient Express.
