My partner found and booked this hotel originally for a 2 night stay which was (v unfortunately) cut short due to work commitments, we will definetly go back to make up for the lost night. Originally the idea of the trip was to meet up with some friends but didn't quite realise how must Winchester has to offer.

This is an amazing hotel with lots of quite stunning original features, extremely clean, very comfortable with great hosts and set in a quiet residential area. We have commented that this is our favourite hotel we have been to in the UK and we have stayed in loads. Yvonne displays a genuine warmth, interest and helpfulness to her guests. If you like animals she might let you meet her lovely pets, if you don't like them don't worry as she is very strict on where they can go and you won't come across them. Yvonne is very informative and passionate about the amazing hotel and the history of Winchester and is very happy to help if you're not sure. The hotel is about 5-10 minutes from the city centre which is quite hilly in parts. The River, Cathedral and Great Hall are all about 10 minutes away and are a must to visit.

We also had a massage at Redwoods and had good times at The Queen Inn, O'Neills and good food at The Old Vine.

All in all a very comfortable and hassle free stay in an incredible house. Thank you!

we picked this hotel beacuse of the TripAdvisor reviews and we loved it - nice residential area near the centre of town, beautiful room and interiors, good breakfast and very welcoming and helpful owner/staff - planning to stay there again next time we are in Winchester

We were upgraded to s suite which was nice.
The room was very comfortable and the owners and staff pleasant and helpful.
Breakfast was good. Our only minor niggle was that the coffee could have been hotter

I hae just returned from an overnight stay at Giffard House and I wish it could have been longer ! What a treat this place is....a fabulous period house with full period features but with all the mod cons and Molton Brown toiletries... lots of them. We had room 1 which was light and airy with a big bathroom and a lovely shower. Our bathroom was spotless and so shiny I was reluctant to mess it all up by actually using it. The bed was comfy and I had an excellent nights sleep. The room also contained a small widescreen TV and Sky Sports (oh happy happy husband) and i think it had free WiFi as well

The breakfast was spot on with plenty of choice and an endless supply of toast.

The location is great, 10 mins walk from the centre of town with off road parking.

Lastly the owners are very welcoming so it feels a bit like home. I remarked that the house was a little like the one they use in "Upstairs, Downstairs" to my husband and in fact there are some regulars who go by the name Mrs Bridges and Mr Hudson so I was not wrong.

We have family in Winchester but if they can't put us up in the future I will gladly stay here again.

We stayed here the night before our daughters wedding along with the bridesmaids and bride to be. All the staff were extremely welcoming, and accommodating of our rather unusual circumstances! The rooms are beautifully decorated, the only point detracting from 5 stars was the rather rattly window in one of the rooms. That said, it was a very windy night, and the original windows are totally in keeping with the property. Breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day. We would certainly stay at Giffard House again, and have no hesitation in recommending it.

I had booked to stay in Giffard House at the start of December to visit Winchester on business. I had to cancel twice due to the snow. Despite this, the owner Peter was very undertstanding and honoured our booking even with all the changes. When we arrived he greeted us warmly and showed us to our upgraded room. The place was spotless. Peter could not have been more helpful, sorting out restaurant bookings and directions for my wife and I. Breakfast was at time we wanted and cooked to order. The hotel is a pleasant 10 minute walk to the town with free secure parking on site and free wifi. Didn't expect such high quality for the price. Excellent in every way! Highly recommended.

We had the pleasure of staying 2 nights at Giffard House. Within walking distance of Winchester Cathedral and the town center, meant we didn't have to find parking
in town. We full english breakfast, along with the cold buffet, meant we were full
until dinner. Our ensuite room, with its very comfortable bed, was appreciated after exploring all the tourist attractions. Good weather, afforded us the luxury of
enjoying a pint in the lovely gardens and meeting fellow travellers. The staff were friendly and very accommodating.
