I stayed at Giffard House Hotel at the weekend. It is a nice homely place. It is spotlessly clean and well-kept throughout. The staff are courteous and helpful. It is in a quiet residential area. The breakfast was good. It is also reasonably priced. I had a well-equipped single room with a good bathroom.

It's a lovely building and just a 10 minute walk into town. Breakfast was nice. Room was nice but didn't really have any wow factor, felt it was a bit overpriced. Didn't have the luxurious feel I've had at other top rated bnbs around.

We stayed here for 3 nights in March for a city break in Winchester, and recommend this hotel highly. Very clean, comfortable and welcoming, and our room was spacious, with a great bed, and Molton Brown toiletries (always a winner with me). Big bonus is on site parking, and its an easy 10 minutes walk into the city centre, and plenty of pubs nearby for a meal or a drink (big real ale city, lots of choice, the Queen Inn had 10 real ales on, and most places had 3 or 4.) Had great breakfasts, lots of options, and even when my husband went "off piste" with his breakfast choice it seemed no trouble to accommodate him. Yvonne was very helpful, drawing us maps of good places to eat, and telling us of places to visit, which we might not have found otherwise as some are off the beaten track a little, and Jerry the dog, Mr Hudson the cat, and Mrs Bridges the parrot only enhanced our stay (unlike some other reviewers...we like animals, they make a place seem more homely, a dog in front of the fire and a cat on your lap, what's not to like?)
Would have no hesitation in staying here again, thanks for the hospitality.

Room Tip: Apparently there is some railway noise at the back, we were at the front so cant comment

Me and my partner stayed for one night here on Valentines weekend. The B&B is positively beautiful inside and immaculate. Lots of interesting Victorian style décor and a lovely open fire. The room we stayed in was beautiful with a lovely bathroom set down on another level, again everything was immaculate with everything you could need for your stay, lovely toiletries and teas coffees etc. We met the manager and she was lovely, she opened the small bar they have just for us and we had a glass of wine before heading out for the evening. She also put a bottle in our room on ice for our return. Breakfast was great and they covered all my dietary requirements. Overall such a lovely break away and we fully intend to make it a yearly visit.

The ambience of the hotel is superb. Been there to stay on several occasions. The couple who runs this hotel are very friendly and helpful in many ways. Its near to the Winchester college boarding schools, so convenient to stay. The rooms I stayed in the hotel were not too spacious but beds are so comfortable and excellent. Every room had a attached bathroom (ensuite). The breakfast is freshly cooked according to your needs. Highly recommend your stay in this hotel.
