We booked this at very short notice due to family illness. Looked lovely from the outside and room looked comfy and big. However, it would appear that the hotel is family-owned and was leased/managed out but the leaseholders had "done a bunk" and two young girls were running it. We wanted a drink in the bar but had to be wary as not much on offer and very old stock. We had to advise some bottles to be thrown out. Not impressed. Bed was very lumpy and hard, as were pillows. Looked forward to a hot shower but not working - part of dial was missing. As it was late at night decided to tell them in morning. No luck at all - it was a wash down in small sink. Man came up and looked - said it was fine the day before but I said that it could not have been and was this a spare room? He obviously did not know how to fix it. Breakfast had limited few packets of old cereals (mostly childrens) - asked for more but was told they had been left with old stock and had to use it up! Cooked breakfast was not bad - it filled a gap! Luckily we did not have dinner nor were aware it was served - only breakfast! I did negotiate a small discount as the room was inferior to what it should have been.
This hotel could be very nice BUT it needs tidying up urgently. In prime position just 5 minutes from town.
They said the website relates to previous leaseholders so any travellers be very wary of booking from this - as I said in heading Not what it seems!!
We would never go back here again nor could truthfully recommend anyone staying there in its present state. They would need to check everything was working in room before settling in.More
