We've actually stayed here twice, which says something in itself, in a party with a family of five (us and children aged 16,13 and 12) and two parents of eighty who were conformably accommodated in their own rather lovely flat on the other side of the courtyard.
There's quite literally acres of grounds and a fine point bursting with toads and tadpoles right outside the door. A tennis court ripe for the playing with another, much larger pond right next to it. Sheep that can be hand fed and woods to walk in.
The accommodation is lovely and (a boon from teenagers' point of view) top-notch wifi available. Most luxurious of all, there's the option of a Japanese vegetarian banquet transported to your very table by Ron. Course after course of delicious food.
Supermarkets are a short drive away in Leominster and Hereford and you're a short drive away from Hay on Wye, the Small Breeds and Owl Centre (a rather more full day out than you might think), the Black and White Village trail and, for classical music buffs, the museum at Edward Elgar's birthplace.
This would be an absolutely brilliant place to stay for the Hay on Wye literary festival, I reckon. Or, frankly, at pretty much any other time for that matter.
