I live about 30 mins from Eastnor castle but until last week had never visited.
We're a family of 5 plus a 4 legged friend. We were really pleased we could take Ollie dog with us and it really made the day special.
The castle is lovely with loads of interesting rooms to explore. The grounds are well kept and we had great fun getting completely lost in the maze. We took a picnic so didnt try the food but we did have ice creams that were lush.
We will definitely be back.

There are some interesting rooms in this castle. I particularly liked the Gothic Drawing Room. The guides are very knowledgeable but I would have liked to have experienced a proper guided tour. You can watch a film and see rooms described in detail by the owner but it is difficult to maintain concentration with other visitors coming and going.

I wasn't overwhelmed by the lakeside walk although it was a gloomy day. There is plenty for children to do but there are no formal gardens to look at.

The cafe was fine (good cakes) but the shop offering was rather poor.

A warm welcome was received all of the staff were welcoming and obviously well trained.

The setting and scenery is fantastic. All of the site is well maintained. Dogs are welcome and well catered for.

The tea rooms are highly recommended with good quality local food at very reasonable prices.

A great family experience.

We visited Eastnor Castle 2nd September 2018 with our 2 children 10 & 8. Having arrived early we had a fantastic leisurely walk around the grounds and the lake, it was quiet but for a few fisherman, lots of wildlife to see, fish, ducks, pheasants roaming the woods, squirrels. We took a picnic with us and had a few snacks before we went into the castle home itself which was extremely interesting, everything immaculate and plenty of guidance on hand from experts to any questions we or the children had and they had great fun searching for the mouse in every room challenge.
After the walk we proceeded to the play area where the children were able to go on a zip wire across the grounds which they loved. There's a fantastic little café and ice cream parlour along with a gift shop.
After a sit down and an ice cream it was on to the junior assault course and maze. Lots of fun to be had here and plenty picnic benches to sit and let your children go off and play. I have to say its one of the most relaxing family days out we have had, plenty of space to walk and sit and the grounds are immaculate. Well recommended and we will be going back very soon.

We visited Eastnor Castle recently for a day out. We had been before, but some time ago. There are several areas where you can have picnics. The first one is under the trees, just after coming through the area for payment. but if you turn left and left again, there is another very nice area next to the maze, with picnic benches and ordinary benches.

We enjoyed a thorough exploration of the grounds, though I would say that following the map that is given out on arrival, is not very easy and a few more signs on footpaths would be very helpful. We explored the arboretum first, wandering down through the trees to the back corner of the house, where a gate leads into the gardens, and there are steps up to the various levels and to the castle entrance.

The castle itself is very interesting and there are guides in most rooms if you require more information. It is good to wander through the grand rooms and to take in the family history, the atmosphere and the views. For anyone with walking difficulties there is a stairlift up the first steep staircase inside the entrance and a lift to the upper floor, where the bedrooms are.

We finished our day with a walk right round the lake, followed by a cup of tea from the tea rooms. There are plenty of tables inside and out to enjoy refreshments and lots of people were eating ice creams from the ice cream shop.

All in all it was a very enjoyable visit and I would recommend it for a good day trip.
