“Wedding of the decade”
Reviewed 19 June 2012

Myself and my new husband had our wedding reception at The Noke and i cannot praise it enough. Krystal Kilby, our wedding organiser was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. We booked The Noke approximately a year before we got married and Krystal was a great help, very professional and extremely helpful. I stayed the night before the wedding with my bridesmaids and alot of our guests who had travelled to share our day, this was just the beginning and all the staff were billiant in looking after everyone. The rooms are lovely, bright and clean. On the day of the wedding, the 31st March 2012, all of the staff at the hotel looked after not just us but all of our guests too. With them saying that it was the best wedding they had been to in a very long time, thanks to all involved at the hotel, everything ran smoothly. We used Contrast Entertainments for everything..., disco, band, LED dance floor, uplighters, kids games and entertainer etc etc as this company was recommended by the hotel as they use them and again i cannot praise Contrast enough too. Our flowers and table centre pieces, bouquets and button holes were supplied by Amie Bone florist in watford and they were exceptional, another recommendation. Photos's by Wilkinson Photography (Matt Wilkinson) again exceptional photograher and very professional. The hotel itself was amazing at accomodating our guests as we had a reception for 250 people which was held in th Marquee in the grounds, again brilliant location and it looked amazing. Thank you to Abdul, the catering manager at the Noke for all your help too. Its hard to get timings for cutting cake, speeches and thankyou's at weddings but Abdul was very experienced in this and helped us to get them all in. Buffet was amazing. Alot of our guests stayed overnight at The Noke too and have said they will be returing. The hotel had to put extra tables out for breakfast the following morning but again very professional. Nothing seemed to be too much to ask....There was another party in the hotel on the same night and i have to say, this didnt interfere at all with our reception, in fact the people at that party were brilliant also and very friendly, we ingaged in conversation on numerous occasions which was very nice. I would highly recommend this hotel, whether it be a wedding, birthday or just a night at an exceptional hotel. The reception staff are brilliant, friendly and very helpful. I know i will definately be staying there again and so will many from our wedding party. ;o)

Room Tip: If its a wedding your having here, the honeymoon suite is amazing....

hi, after reading a few negative wedding reports on here we were very worried about the upcoming wedding at your venue but i would just like to thank you very much for a great day yesterday when my son got married. Everything run really smoothly and the food was delicious, compliments to the chef. The evening buffet was also very good with a lot of food to choose from. The service was very good and most of the staff were very helpful. I would definately recommend you to anyone wishing to get married there !!!!!

Recently stayed here with my coach party of 48 passengers.
A lovely old building which character but:
The rooms were very hot due to the hot water pipes & the only windows you can open are the two small slats in the bathroom window.
There was a wedding reception Saturday evening which was very noisy for some rooms. Apparently weddings are very popular here on a Saturday.
Dinner in the Avocado restaurant was very slow although I arranged 3 sittings for my group so they didn't all go in at the same time. Food was generally good although some meals were disappointing, some chicken undercooked & prices a little expensive.
We were on continental breakfast which was OK but to upgrade to a full English breakfast the cost is £8.
Staff generally good & helpful.

Dear Reviewer,

Many thanks for choosing to stay with us during the Jubilee, and thank you for sharing your views with the Trip Advisor community.

Very sorry to hear that you were inconvenienced by the warmth of the room, we do have fans available in all wardrobes, and full air conditioning in our deluxe rooms.

Your absolutely correct to say that we are popular for weddings especially as we have a spacious marquee.

I have spoken to our Chef regarding the overcooking of chicken as this makes for a disappointing read.

The team will be pleased to know that there efforts have been noted by you.

Kind Regards

Thank you very much for the terrific two days at your hotel!!! We really enjoyed the place, which is perfect if you want to run away from big city life and enjoy your days with loved one! Also, food was delicious - the cake was so pretty that i was scared to eat. Moreover, there are lots of activities such as pool, sauna, gym and local pubs. Last but not least , staff are very friendly and helpful, helped to plan our night out. overall 5 stars

Room Tip: Room 145 was amazing with king size bed and A/C

Did not stay in the rooms but met friends for dinner in the main restaurant. The guy behind the bar which adjoins the main restaurant was frankly useless! Didn't have any Bacardi and when we asked whether the other bar had any he didn't even bother to offer to go find out! (There were no other customers around at the time either). When we pushed him to do this he finally went to see. Came back and said there wasn't any. How come a large hotel like this does not have Bacardi stocked in their bar?!! My friend asked for a white wine. Didn't have any! Had to go get some. When she went to pay him - he didn't have any change! Had to go find some! The service in the restaurant however was good (albeit a bit slow with just one poor waitress on - but it was a Monday night). Food was good. But about 4 weeks ago my sister in law stayed here and had booked a suite months and months ago. When they arrived they found they had sold their room to someone else!! This used to be a very good hotel. Whoever looks after this now needs to have a full assessment - shame !!!

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback with the Trip Advsor community.
Clearly your experience was far from what would be considered to be appropriate, it does however please me to read that you enjoyed our new summer menu, and our new Head Chef will be delighted to hear this, as for the service it pleases me to inform you that we have recruited a new Restaurant and Bar Manager this week and your feedback will prove very useful in focusing how we can improve our guests experience.
Many thanks

I stayed at this hotel for a couple of days from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning, when I got there I was amazed by the reception and the character of the building with the lovely wooden staircase, the two ladies at reception were lovely and told me my room etc..

Arriving at my room was no problem at all and when inside everything was clean tidy and what you'd expect really.

I had breakfast Saturday morning which was good, the older lady that looked like she was in charge was a bit scatty and looked like she didn't know what she was doing but their was a young man that looked after us no problem and made sure we had everything we needed.

Overall was a good stay at the hotel and I wouldn't expect anymore, the food was nice and the rooms were good as well as the staff being friendly!

People have such high expectation these days! Give these people a break they work very hard

I had my wedding here on the 6th April

On arrival everything was perfect , check into the room fine staff were lovely , got to the room it was big clean and pretty much perfect , had a great night sleep the first night the night before my wedding , on the day of my wedding i ordered some sandwiches for 9 people paid £20 and recived 3 sandwiches which wasnt acceptable and the bread was stale!

Just before walking down the aisle was asked to go and speak to the registar which was fine as its normal , but was taken into the room where all my guest could see me before i had walked down the aisle and was fasle in there!! , After the cermony everything was fine had photos and so on not many place for nice photos to be honest , sat down for the 3 course wedding breakfast , recived each dish which was completly different to the food tasting food and when question was told they had change chefs thats why it was diffrent and they expected it to be better than the tasting which it wasnt by far!!!

During the evening rececpition , i had to tell the waiters to stop taking bottles of FULL wine from the table which i had paided for in my package they took 5 bottles!

Evening buffet was awful!!! couldnt believe it !! the sandwich were terriable stale and it was awful!

Collected my cake the morning after and it hadnt been covered up so it was rock hard!!

Wouldnt reccomend paided over £5,000 gold package and was defo not up to to scratch!

DONT BOOK YOUR WEDDING HERE!
