I visited this hotel last year with my family, loved it and wanted to go again - but this time with my girlfriends. Finding a date when all 6 of us could escape work, children and family duties was not easy, in fact it took 8 months so it's fair to say that we all had high expectations as this was a very rare treat indeed. We were not disappointed!
From the moment we arrived we relaxed. The sun was shining (in Oct!), we sat and had a drink by the lake, admiring the beautiful grounds and watching from afar as guests arrived for a wedding. Then an afternoon of retail therapy before popping back to the hotel to relax, watch Strictly and get ready for a night out in St Albans. We were sharing 3 double rooms - each one as nice as the next and I was lucky enough to get the room with a four poster bed. The room (larch) was beautifully decorated and large enough for all 6 of us to lounge around and chat whilst we got ready.
We had been a bit nervous that we wouldn't get much sleep - we'd been warned there was live music for the wedding which might disturb us. However the bed was so comfy and we didn't hear a thing - the best nights sleep in ages. Even better to know that a lovely cooked breakfast and the papers awaited us in the morning.
24 hours after we had arrived, we set off home: happy, relaxed, refreshed and already planning the next trip.
Thank you St Michael's Manor.

Room Tip: Larch has a four poster bed, fabulous shower and little terrace to sit out on.

Stayed here for 1 night in July on a room + dinner, bed & breakfast rate. We found this to be excellent value & the quality of the 3 course evening meal was fantastic.

Lots of parking & grogeous setting - about a 10 minute walk uphill into the town centre. Room was spacious with small patio & terrace area. Tasteful decor, clean & lovely bright airy bathroom. We would stay again for sure if in the area.

23rd August 2012 our wedding ceremony and reception was held at St Michael's Manor. The venue and its grounds are beautiful and the staff on the day, and for the rest of the evening where amazing! The food and service was faultless. We stayed in the Holy four poster room with other family members in other rooms and we all agreed how lovely they all were. A big thank you to all the staff involved in making our day so special. We loved it so much the day after our wedding we booked to come again.

We attended a family celebration and found the hotel very comfortable with elegant decor and well-appointed rooms with all the extras. The grounds were lovely and the breakfast excellent. I even left my mobile phone in the room and they posted it back to me straight away and would not take any money for the postage! Would love to go back and spend more time here.

Stayed here recently for a friend's wedding. Lovely venue, the day was organised perfectly. Great location with the lake and grounds for photos. The food was gorgeous too. Stayed in one of the suites, the room was beautiful - the little touches such as the hotel's own filter coffee was lovely. A beautiful place to stay. Staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. Breakfast was amazing! Worth coming and just having breakfast even if you're not staying! It's not the cheapest hotel in St Albans, but it is definitely worth the money - you get what you paid for and more. the standard of service is brilliant. Definitely recommend.
