Hand made Pasta implies that pasta is being hand made over there when in fact it's being hand made somewhere else.
We have ordered several pasta dishes which were below average, bacon wad completely burnt and overall the dishes were a bit tasteless.
Service was extremely slow and when commenting about that to hostess we were surprised that we have been answered in an arrogant way trying to justify why we were wrong. We strongly recommend to stay away from this place!!!

We went last night to celebrate my sons birthday and we were a table of six
The atmosphere and decor were excellent as was the service (for which they obligingly added on to the bill for me)
All of us enjoyed the food immensely and my seafood linguine was a joy
So well done to Zaza the best Italian we have been to for a long time
The only reason it did not score higher was my pet hate of the charge (65% GP ie cost x3.357) they put on wines which unfortunately is standard practice in the trade
Would definitely recommend

Tuesday night is one of those two course specials with unlimited wine deals. I'd usually avoid this but the menu looked good, the staff were pleasant so I took the offer up with two colleagues. The food was excellent and the pasta made on the premises was particularly exceptional. Wine was left out on a central table for you to top up your glass. I'd recommend a visit even if there wasn't a Tuesday night deal.

We visited Zaza's in a group of 8 for a birthday meal. All of us wearing football shirts, (being England vs. Italy that evening) we were slightly worried they may object. But there was no problem and they welcomed our (slightly loud!) group. Food was great, but service was even better. They dealt really well with our large excitable group, bringing water for the whole table and food was all well timed. The manager came rushing over and said we all looked like we were having such a good time that she wanted to take a picture of us for the Facebook page. This made us all really happy! We quitely asked them to bring out a dessert for the birthday boy, and they did so with a candle and some amazing chocolate sauce that spelled Happy Birthday across the plate, and they got the whole restaurant singing!
The pricing was also very reasonable, we all had a main course and dessert, with plenty of alcohol, and the bill came to around £22 per person, including service. For the quality of food and service this was definitely very good value.
This place has a great atmosphere and is also really nice for a romantic meal out, or any special occasion. And they do a great lunchtime deal too! One of my favourite restaurants in St.Albans and I'm sure to be back soon!

Early evening in St Albans, after a busy hot afternoon (June 12th 2014) being fitted for a wedding suit we were looking for a good restaurant to end the day in and came across Zaza's. We were not disappointed, the menu selection was fantastic, the food quality excellent, the staff were unobtrusive and the ambience was just right. Great value for money behind there almost hidden entrance in the High Street.
