We chose St Albans from the map as we wanted an easy drive to Heathrow Airport. We chose Tankerfield House from TripAdvisor, always a reliable guide. A good choice all round, loved St Albans and loved Tankerfield House. Not regular stayers at B&Bs we found this establishment to be a relaxed stay, our hosts charming and we were delighted with our spacious ‘suite’ accommodation in the Green Room. Yes, it is at the rear of the building but so quiet with plenty of light and ventilation from windows on three aspects. It is definitely not too green in fact very pleasantly decorated. Wi-Fi was available and worked well in our room. The Green Room has a very spacious bedroom with mirrored doors on a large robe. It is a step down to the living room area, larger than it appears in the photographs on their website. It is a comfortable room with TV, two chairs and occasional furniture. The bathroom had a very good shower. There is a lot of good artwork throughout the very old listed building.

Jacqui was very friendly and welcoming. She advised us on local restaurants and suggested a great evening walk through the historic parts of the town that included architecturally interesting historical homes, a riverside park and the abbey gateway. Alfredo insisted in helping with our luggage on arrival and departure. He also cooks a very good breakfast and we appreciated being able to help ourselves to tea, toast etc. and make it as we like it. As we were not departing St Albans until early afternoon we were kindly allowed to leave our car parked at the B&B for the morning.

We dined at the very modern restaurant nearby, Lussmans - excellent meal, value and service. This stay was our last night in the UK after a five week visit. We always try to stay somewhere special on the last night of a holiday and we were not disappointed.

My wife and I stayed for three days recently in the Green suite during the very hot weather. Despite all windows being left open there was no through draft so quite uncomfortable. However, the owners, Jaqui and Alberto, on being informed, immediately bought a small fan which was placed in our room for our return from the nearby Cathedral. That's service!
Our rooms were very clean and nothing seemed too much trouble for the owners even offering to drive our car out of the rather tight parking space. (room for 2 cars but limited space for door opening).
Lovely comfortable bed and great breakfast ( but I would prefer better sausages!)
Hopefully will visit again before the end of the year because St Albans has so much to offer and this b&b is perfectly situated.

Room Tip: Green suite very comfortable but overlooked on two sides by buildings. White or Red room have good views,

I stayed for one night in the red room and found it very comfortable especially the bed. The breakfast was amazing and the staff couldn't do enough for me. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend to others.

This b&b is fantastic. The owners are very friendly and more than accomadating. We stayed with friends and rented all three rooms. All were very clean and even better than we had expected. The location is perfect, with all st. Albans has to offer literally on the door step. The breakfast was lovely - cooked to order. All the rooms were perfect. Would definately recommend to others going to st. Albans and I would definately go back.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely. The green room is the biggest, followed by the white room and then ten red room. But to be honest they are all lovely.

My girlfriend and I stayed here a couple of months ago and were pleasently supprised. The man of the house kindly picked us up from the train station aswe were a little bit unsure where we were going. When we arrived we were kindly escorted to our room and given a key. The next day Breakfast was very nice and then we went on our way - will definately stay again when in the area!
