Description: As an old coach house that dates back to 1758, The Green Dragon became a pub several years later, steeped in history, with original features including the low beams and the fire place in the bar area. Julie has been the owner of The Green Dragon for 10 years and counting. We serve traditional home-cooked food, lunchtimes everyday, as well as evening food from Tuesday through until Saturday, and take pride in every meal thats sent out of our kitchen. We also host live music throughout the year with some fantastic bands, solo acts and acoustic live mic sets hitting the pub.A warm welcome is always received upon arrival and we hope to see you soon whether it be for food, drinks or a little bit of live music.

“Amazing 'home made brilliance'”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

My husband & I went to the green dragon after looking at the web site menu! I fancied the calf liver so off we went, the resturant side was empty and the staff advised us to sit on the bar side but welcomed us if we wanted to sit on the resturant side, we took there advice and sat at a lovely table by the window, a very warm atmospher and pleasant staff. (Sadly no calf liver on the menu) I had the lamb chops & potatoe salad I can't tell you it was amazin & unusual, my husband had the fish & chips crispy & plenty of it. Now the desert omg home made cheese cake, and the most tasty rhubarb, apple & blackberry crumble with custard. We haven't been to a place like this in a long time! Friendly caring & a lovely atmosphere & a pub with the most amazing grub! & at only £12.95 for two courses there's nothing else I can say! Go & enjoy!

“Perfect sunny day location”
Reviewed 1 September 2013 via mobile

Popped in for a quiet lunch on a beautiful sunny day. Chose the Green Dragon for its location rather than menu and was pleasantly surprised by the varied menu and good value for money.
Worth a visit.

“Huge plates of Sunday roast”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

We visited last Sunday and despite the wrong time for our booking being recorded (we phoned the day before and spoke to a very sleepy sounding gentleman!), tables were rearranged by the very accommodating waitresses. 5 of us ordered the Sunday roast (lamb and beef) and one had the fish pie off the specials. Very large portions, and whilst we did have to wait for some time, it was worth it as the meat was succulent and moist and the vegetables were varied, hot and tasty. Puddings were huge and gorgeous. All in all a very pleasant Sunday lunch. I just wish we lived nearer to go again regularly!

“Tuesday is steak night”
Reviewed 13 August 2013 via mobile

How can anyone not be happy with the quality of steak for the price here, we have lost our usual waitress who has moved on to new pastures, but Yanah our new waitress is great however and gives you more chips.
Staff great, pub great, steak great......, and now with more chips!

“Brilliant Night Out....”
Reviewed 5 August 2013 via mobile

Was staying in a hotel up the road, but on finding our room unbearably hot we decided to go for a bit of a wander down the road, and boy are we glad we did, as we stumbled across this little gem of a pub. Felt at home soon as we walked in, everyone warm and friendly. Hadn't intended to eat in here but on seeing a couple next to us tucking into a delicious looking plate full of Steak, Chips etc we just couldn't resist. We had Tuna Pâté and Garlic mushrooms to start and as main dish we chose the Sea Bass...the food was gorgeous, cooked to perfection, and the service was excellent. We will definitely be coming back to this pub regardless of the fact we have to come 60 miles to do so and stay in a hotel the night but we feel the pub is worth it. For the whole experience as in atmosphere, nice location over looking river, food, service, value for money this pub has it all. Can honestly say best pub we've ever had the pleasure to visit.
