We are fairly frequent visitors to this restaurant & to other Jamies. Last week was not very good. We had booked but service was sub-standard. They were clearly over-stretched with several staff in-training (some with quite poor English) & eventually had to draft in staff from the Jamie's Deli. We had to wait for ages for our starter (antipasto plank) which only appeared after we chased it, although when it did arrive it was very good.

One of our 3 main courses was very poor (lasagne swimming in oil & under-seasoned to the point of almost being tasteless). The maitre d' did apologise, deducted payment & gave a free dessert which was appreciated. He asked why I didn't want to change it for something else but given that service had been so slow up to that point I would have been waiting until midnight.

It was a shame as we normally enjoy it here. Please either get the staffing levels right or don't fill all the tables up if you don't have enough staff.

This was my second visit to Jamie's Italian. I had been very disappointed by the food when we had a family get together at Jamie's this time last year. On that occasion I had found the food mediocre at best. With an open mind a return visit to Jamie's Italian was agreed and we gathered there on Sunday. This may have been my second visit but I'm afraid it will be my last! The staff were very helpful and attentive and deserve full marks, but the food was once again mediocre at best. Two other observations.....it is over priced and pretentious!

We visited using JO's £20 per head Amazon offer. We had booked by phone but the staff had no record of this. We were seated for15 minutes before a member of staff came near us. When we eventually ordered drinks they took a further 15 minutes to arrive. The starter planks of antipasto had very little meat or cheese on - the vegetarian plank was particularly poor. After a further wait the main courses were lukewarm and the broccoli cold. We ate this as we couldn't bear another wait for the food to be replaced. The rissotto was particularly tasteless. We got a round of drinks on the house when we complained but this didn't really compensate for a poor evening. Our waitress was pleasant if less than competent but one of the other staff was quite rude when we chased up our order. We would never visit again.

Visited recently Jamie’s Deli (part of, but separate from, Jamie’s Italian).

Excellent selection of newspapers
Very good service
Good coffee
Poor cakes
Dim Lighting
Loud background music
Expensive (£2.75 for a cappuccino)

Mixture of seating: chairs, stools and a sofa. Asides from a good selection of reading material (which is only of use if you can get a seat close enough to the window to see what you are reading) I could not see any reason to return and pay what are premium prices for what is on offer.
