A superb museum in the midst of this important Roman town. Brilliant artefacts and mosaics which can be seen in the museum and you can touch!
Superb staff who are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what they have to offer.
Visited with lots of school children on site who were thoroughly engaged and we were too. One museum guide took time and trouble to show me lots of photograhs about when the discoveries had been made .
A great school visit but good for oldies too.
Visit all the separate rooms and see what life was really like, then go outside and walk through the park and live it.
History comes to life. Well done St Alban's you have a real winner here!
Entry fee- very cheap and cheap parking too -easily a day out with all the family.
I bet the Romans would love to see it now.
Although not attached see the roman theatre too!
Wow what an attraction!

We spent a few hours in this museum and actually learnt quite a bit! I do recommend sitting down at the beginning and watching the TV programme - I don't normally do that, but it does provide a nice introduction to the museum and means you understand a lot more as you walk around. Despite being a Saturday afternoon it wasn't too busy, and the gift shop was nice (although for a Roman museum, there were a lot of Egyptian items?!). The museum is just the right size - plenty to look at, without being so large that you don't know where to start. The car park outside was extremely busy, but there is another huge one about 15mins walk away, which was free to park in (rare!).

This is a wonderful museum to visit and incredibly interesting. Really well set out and the information provided is very good. Went during half term which made hearing some of the audio information difficult due to the children that were visiting but this is only a small gripe.

As have many reviewers, we went to this museum as our granddaughter is " doing the Romans" at school. Over all it was a positive experience as the exhibits were very good with additional things for the children to do. However the two people on reception / shop were very miserable. When we asked the way to the toilets we got a monosyllabic "There". Our granddaughter bought a few things. There was no eye contact or smile for her, just the price given. Perhaps the two assistants were having a bad day- but just a little interaction would not come amiss.

Nice small museum on the edge of St Albans.
Recommend a visit but if the weather is good then the car park gets busy with people visiting the park.
