“VERULAMIUM MUSEUM ST ALBANS”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

Verulamium Museum St Albans is easily accessible by foot (20 mins) from St Albans Railway Station, and is well signposted from the town centre. It is a very well presented museum which successfully exhibits the town's famous Roman heritage and has many important archaeological artefacts in well lit and modern surroundings. Upon entry a number of video presentations provide the visitor with a comfortable sit down to gain an initial overview of the various displays. The museum is suitable for both children and adults alike.
The main walk from the town centre (follow signs) can be via a wonderful street full of varied Georgian houses, or alternatively across a very nice park. While there is no provision for museum refreshment, a very nearby restaurant is only a few minutes away and reasonably priced.

“Great on a rainy day”

Wouldn't go out of my way to visit, but I enjoyed my time there with abroad visitors. Short and sweet, and cheap. Beautiful mosaic collection and entertaining daily life items on display.

“Excellent renovated museum - romans”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

Have being going here since i was a kid at school and never tire of the place. It is informative, interesting and a good size for kids. The quizzes keep it fun and sometimes they dress up and have volunteer guides.

“Our son liked it so much he wanted to go back”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Our 10 year old son visited the Verulamium museum on a school trip and found it so interesting that he wanted to go back. We took him and his brother one weekend. The parking was a bit difficult as it was a warm day and the adjacent park was busy so the car park was full. The museum is quite small but has lots of interesting artifacts from the Roman times. It is very child friendly, with sheets of things for kids to look for around the museum. There are also short films for them to watch and activities (e.g. a making a mosaic). A short walk through the park takes you to a very impressive Roman mosaic.
