A muted palette of heritage colours has transformed the space with plenty of comfy seating in our light-filled brasserie offering that perfect spot for breakfast, a light lunch or a special dinner. Two cosy booths have a fabulous kitchen view if you like a little dinner theatre. And for larger parties or celebrations we have a gorgeous 12-seater family table. Make sure to ask for it when you book. And of course, our cosy bar offers the ideal place to relax with the papers and a cappuccino, or to enjoy a glass of bubbly before your meal.

“Relaxing surroundings”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2014

Very good lunch deal. Had two courses here with my mother after a trip round the lovely St. Albans Cathedral. We both started with beetroot, lentil and goat cheese salad, which was delicious. The lentils and most of the goat cheese were creamed together and served with the beetroot on top and served with a little decorative mustard mayonnaise around the edge of the plate - we were so impressed by this dish that the waiter kindly asked if we would like the recipe. Brilliant! I followed this with Guinea fowl confit, peas, mash and broad beans with a lovely jus and that was very good. My mothers traditional tart flambé was not so successful. It was more like a very dry pizza with onion, gruyere and bacon sparsely covering a not very crisp pastry base - so somewhat disappointing, but I was able to share some of my food so not a disaster. We decided to share a dessert which was baked apple, calvados and vanilla ice cream and though seemingly simple delivered a sauce with complimented the apple which in the core was stuffed with sultanas. We took advantage of the offer of a glass of house wine each for £2.50 and free tap water. The Lunch deal was only £11.50 for 2 courses and £13.95 for three. Very worthwhile booking a table here.

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2014

Having eaten here previously and had a good meal, we were very disappointed with our dinner this evening. We were offered no bread (nor could see anyone else with bread) which I would consider a staple in any French brasserie, and which I remembered us having on our previous visit. The 'special' starter of new season's white asparagus with a handful of undressed rocket leaves was bland in the extreme: I had to add salt (which I rarely need to do when eating out), it was however, a very good sized portion of asparagus. My husband's souffle was slightly burned underneath and very dry indeed; this too was under seasoned.
Main courses were better, though my husband's side order of buttered green beans showed no evidence of butter and at nearly £4 were distinctly underwhelming.
The wine was good and the lovely cheery waitress did a great job of trying to keep the punters happy, despite, in her own words, them being very understaffed.
All in all, I really wouldn't think Raymond Blanc would want his name attached to food of this average quality, and at £65 for two courses with just 2 glasses of wine, it just wasn't good enough.

“Fantastic food as you would expect from the chain”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2014

The food in brasserie blanc is always of a high standard. It's not the most innovative but it's always delicious. I would recommend this place for lunch or dinner if you want to eat where you know you'll get good food and good service, even if it doesn't offer the greatest value for money.

“Never fails to impress”

Always have good food and service here. This is one of my regular places to eat, lunchtime and evening have both been good experiences. The food is good, service quick and efficient with a good choice. Their lunchtime menu is very good value, if you want something a bit more special go here. Good location and atmosphere here.

“Beautiful French dining experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2014 via mobile

Had a wonderful night out with my husband. Staff were attentive and polite.food is of great standard although the menu doesn't seem to change which is a shame. Would recommend to anyone looking for a refined evening with great atmosphere. The Berkhampstead branch is also lovely.
