Fantastic food, professional service. We were booked in at 7pm which was early but the place was very popular throughout the evening. We were seated right by the window which was a little cool initially.

“Family Meal”
Reviewed 22 November 2013

We were at Sopwell House for a family wedding and arranged to meet family and friends for a meal. Luckily I had booked during the week as the restaurant began to fill very quickly. We all had fish & chips which was really good. A lovely atmosphere and a good evening enjoyed by us all.

“appalling service”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

Went for afternoon tea with 15 others for a friends birthday. The tea and cakes were very nice and we all had a lovely time, however the service was very poor. We had to request water four separate times before it finally came, which was an hour after it was first requested. We also had to ask for the bill 3 times as well. To add insult to injury they charged £2 per head service charge! If I was sorting the bill I would have personally removed the service charge as that was taking the mickey as service was terrible. Would I go back for a meal? Not based on that experience no I would not!

“An Excellent Buffet Lunch”
Reviewed 25 October 2013

We enjoyed an excellent buffet Lunch £20 a head to cellebrate a friends birthday.
The house wine was very refreshing and enjoyable.
The soup, parsnip and apple with croutons was very tasty. The Fish starters I enjoyed were the Rollmop Herring and smoked Mackerel. There were also some very tasty Pates. Along with a variety of salad items and sauces. What I like about a Buffet is that one can have both fish and meat, trying just a little and if you like be able to have more.
There was an excellent Beef Bouguignon, Ratatouille, Lemon Chicken, Poached Salmon and fresh vegetables to enjoy.
Besides Bread and Butter Pudding and Custard there were a nice selection of cold sweets including freshly made Creme Brulees one could die for. There was cheese to follow but I just kept on the Creme Brulee.
The Service by the staff was excellent. The Buffet dishes were always replenished quickly and though a help yourself Buffet, the serving staff could not be faulted.
It was an excellent meal foodwise but what stopped the meal being great, was too many Spa Guests dining in their white Bath Robes and the Coffee was absolutely terrible.
