“Second visit had no disappoinments...”
Reviewed 28 January 2014

This was our 2nd visit to the Fleuchary House (B&B) and we loved our stay just as much as our first experience. We stayed seven nights and it was just a delightful, cozy and welcoming environment. The "innkeeper" (Linda) was a perfect hostess and her breakfasts, which included a full English breakfast were absolutely delicious and a wonderful way to start the day. The room was so comfortable we hated to leave it when it was time to return home.
We plan on returning next year to St. Albans, England and part of our enjoyment is our "must" stay at the Fleuchery House. Enjoy...we did!

This B&B was a perfect base for my one week business trip to the UK, with several days in London. A great sleep in an exceptionally well appointed room, and hot shower in a bathroom that would put many high-end hotels to shame, and a superb cooked full English breakfast (thanks for getting the black pudding!) made for great days. Linda is a wonderful hostess and goes out of her way to ensure your stay is the very best that it can be. I'll certainly be returning for future trips, and using 29 as a base could not be bettered. Thank you for a super stay and look forward to the return in june.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the house are a little quieter if you are a light sleeper.

My wife and I have spent a lovely night in the Scottish room Friday just gone and had a great stay.

As we already know St Albans it was nice to spend some time in the room and relax. The room was very comfortable with a queen size bed and probably the best bathroom we have ever had while staying away. We have stayed at St Michaels Manor and would choose to stay here every time.

The breakfast was fantastic and Linda was a lovely host - We will be back and thanks again!

Room Tip: The Scottish Room is Lovely!

This is a really nice, comfy and friendly B&B. The rooms were clean and very nicely decorated and I really liked my room. Linda is a great hostess and bent over backwards to help me with my travel arrangements because I was arriving so late at night. The breakfast was nicely cooked and there was more than ample choice of additional foods on the table. I have no hesitation in recommending this B&B if you wish to stay in St Albans. It is a mere 5 minutes walk from the railway station and the centre of town. A nice choice of restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes are all within easy walking distance. If I ever return to St Albans I will make Fleuchary House my first choice.

The previous excellent reviews are all correct. A friend and I have just returned from a three night break in St Albans and we can't rate the B&B, or its owner, highly enough. The house is beautiful, and the rooms decorated to an extremely high standard by the owner, Linda, who clearly has a real talent for interior design and an eye for detail. Our room was large enough to separate the king bed into two singles (with very high quality bedding) and the ensuite bathroom was similarly proportioned, with whirlpool bath and rain shower. There was plenty of choice at breakfast, including pastries, different breads, pancakes and muffins, as well as a full range of cereals, fresh fruits, the obligatory full English, and about a dozen choices of artisan preserves. One issue to be aware of is that there is a heavy curtail, rather than a door, between the bedroom and bathroom. This didn't bother us at all, but if you're not such good friends with your travelling companion you might want to ask for a different room. I would not hesitate to recommend this place and will definitely be going back (and if you wanted a very early cooked, rather than packed, breakfast - see review below - the owner has now equipped the very elegant dining room with the facilities for boiling eggs, making drinks and toast, warming pastries etc).

This was a really nice experience, me and my daughter stayed here for 4 nights in December and we loved it. Linda was an excellent hostess and took good care of us.There where several options for breakfast: traditional English breakfast, superb fruits, pancakes or plain scrumble eggs etc. The options was ours, she made what we wanted to have.

Our room was beautiful, cozy and with high standard and comfortable beds . We will stay here next time we visit St Albans!

We can't really understand the comments "lincolnzip" made. Aside from everything, Fleuchary House is a Bed and BREAKFAST establishment. You don't want breakfast - your choice. It's like ordering a three course meal, not indulging in the dessert and then asking for a discount....

We had five great days in St. Albans, visiting family and found just what we wanted at no 29. Linda is the most attentive hostess and we felt very well looked after.
The amazingly varied breakfasts beat any offerings we have had at 4 star hotels, the bed had a beautifully firm mattress and we slept accordingly; the shower gave us as much hot water as we needed and the room was cleaned each day to our total satisfaction. We have found our perfect place to stay whenever we are going to visit our family.
