Description: Childhood friends Enzo Espedito welcome you to a little taste of Napoli with Osteria Posillipo Pizzaria quite likely one of Canterburys friendliest restaurants. Decorated in relaxing woods, this light, airy space has the added bonus of being located near the Marlowe Theatre. An in-house wood-fired stone oven is visible from the open-plan kitchen on the ground floor, allowing hungry diners watch their pizzas bubble away the traditional way. Not in the mood for pizza? Traditional Italian favourites are the name of the game here, including fresh, homemade pasta like spaghetti a vongole.

We have eaten here a couple of times in the last few months. The food is fresh, tasty and fantastic value for money. Best Italian in Canterbury!

The generally good reviews of this restaurant prompted us to pay it a visit and sure enough, we had a very enjoyable time. Only a few tables were occupied. The food was quite nice, even if somewhat hit and miss. One of the starters, the mixed seafood, was very tasty, indeed, with a selection of squid and shellfish in a garlic and seasoning sauce. However, the duck, which was one of the specials of the day, had far too much fat on it; some pieces consisted solely of it! Then again, the pasta was perfectly cooked and the home-made tiramisu is well worth recommending. The wine list has all the usual suspects of an Italian eatery (Chianti, Bardolino) at very affordable prices. The service was friendly and informal without, however, being intrusive (except for the HUGE pepper mill already commented upon by a previous reviewer!). So, all in all, a good experience, if it wasn't for the fact that we started to feel very ill less than half an hour after leaving the restaurant and headed for a pretty rough night. Through a process of deduction, the most likely culprit would appear to have been the seafood dish -- or some of the ingredients thereof, to be more precise --, as it was the only one we had both had. A real shame, but it is safe to say that I shan't be returning!

Posillipo is one of the few, out of the many Italian restaurants in Canterbury that I would recommend. The waiting staff are welcoming and very sensitive to the needs of diners.

The menu is lined with classic Italian dishes and there is a daily specials board.
