Beautiful building located within walking distance of the centre. Very wellcoming, comfortable, home from home! we loved our stay at the Arthouse. Breakfast was excellent, great choice and very good quality products!
The house is full of interesting art and lovely touches! Very light and airy! we even had fresh flowers in our bedroom.
If we visit Canterbury again we won't consider anywhere else!

Having read countless wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor, we chose the date of our Canterbury trip entirely on the basis of when the Arthouse b+b could accommodate us. Despite very high expectations, we weren't disappointed in any respect!

John and Ann are fantastically friendly hosts. The accommodation is full of wonderful art and humorous oddities, achieving a perfect balance of style and comfort. The bedrooms are spacious and the shared living are on the second floor is massive and a great place for a bit of light reading, with access to full kitchen facilities, tea, coffee, etc at all times.

Breakfast is set out early and guests are free to eat at their pleasure, which makes a welcome change and makes you feel like you're in your own home. Like most reviewers, we also found the place to be spotlessly clean with excellent facilities.

Very, very highly recommended indeed.

This B&B has two rooms, because we are a family with two little children we needed two rooms which automatically meant that we had the shared living room and bathrooms for ourselves.
On arrival we had to search a little bit. We parked the car next to the house and thought the owners lived in the opposite house. But the man sitting there did not give us much attention. So we went on searching, but after 5 minutes it was a woman that indeed came from the opposite house.
She was very friendly and relaxed and immediately gave some tips for the road to the center, which is about a 10 minute walk. We stayed here for 2 nights, for which we had to pay 250 pound.
The house though was not very clean, and with two kids aged 2 and 3 that’s not so nice. Dust was easy to find and it gave me the feeling that the last big cleaning action was years ago.
One of the two beds made a lot of noise, that is, if you lay still all night, you don’t have much of a problem.
I booked this after reading the good stories here, but in the end, this B+B is in my opinion a little bit overrated here.

What an absolute delight this B&B proved to be! The accomodation in an old fire station is beautifully furnished with many kitsch and retro items of furniture and decor; and the wonderfully quirky and humorous artworks created by the owners. Everything was spotlessly clean, and breakfast was abundant and top quality.

The welcome from the owners was warm and they proved to be kind and generous hosts - I would unhesitatingly return next time I am in Canterbury, and recommend Arthouse b+b to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Kent.

Arthouse is a very short walk from the centre of town, so proved to be a great base from which to explore the town, and to return to after dinner.

There is offroad parking (a rarity in town) - and a small hint is worth making here. The parking is accessed through an arched tunnel beneath the main building (visible in photos of the frontage of the building) - it's a very tight turn when coming from the west, and still pretty tight coming from the other, easterly direction. Better to come across the London Road from the road opposite (New Road) as this way you can drive straight in.

We loved this unusual B&B and were really chuffed we found it online. We were left to our own devices which we also like! Breakfast was lovely and everything was spotlessly clean. The welcome was really friendly and we really liked all the odd tchotchkes, tasteful furnishings and humorous artwork (made by the owners) scattered neatly around the place. Dressing gowns were a bonus. The fact it has been a fire station and a pickles factory made the place all the more interesting. Also we didn't have much time to spend in Canterbury, so it was brilliant to be just a stone's throw from the city centre, cathedral and restaurants. Highly recommended!

We have just returned from a very relaxing stay at the lovely Arthouse in Cantrebury. Our hosts were really lovely and went out of their way to make us welcome. We stayed in the garden room, which was excellent and had access to a lovely sun trap shared with Hettie the dog. On the morning we left our hosts invited us into their own home for breakfast and it was the perfect end to a lovely stay. I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough. Many thanks to John, Anna and Hettie xx

I was really looking forward to our weekend away at the Arthouse and I was not to be disappointed. What a find… a lovely bolthole full of eclectic art and features throughout – we felt at home straightaway. We loved our spacious bedroom with comfortable bed – a perfect night’s sleep. The laid back feel was perfect for our little break. It is really nice to have the place to yourself, although there is another bedroom we did not even meet the other guests until breakfast. We had use of a kitchen, dining room and lounge (perfect for relaxing after exploring Canterbury). Breakfast the next day was very tasty – croissants, fresh bread with all manner of jams and spreads and a very impressive range of teas. Again, it was relaxed and laid out ready for when we were up and awake.

The Arthouse is a short walk into the hub of Canterbury and although it was November we were able to squeeze in a riverside boat tour and enjoy the ride before a look around the exquisite Cathedral at dusk. The crypt was unbelievable. We the enjoyed a tasty dinner at Café Mauresque (Morroccan/Moorish fare) – I recommend the Lamb Shank Tagine – divine! The next day we set out to take advantage of the sunny weather. We set off down the road (10 miles or so) to Whitstable to sample the oysters and sea air.

We have already been thinking about when we come back, so hope to see the Arthouse and its hosts very soon. This is a lovely set–up and a real asset to Canterbury.
