Called a luxury B&B - better than any hotel I've stayed at! We were housed in the 'annexe' but were very happy. 50 yards from the west gate into the very centre of Canturbaury.. 5 mins walk from the cathedral and shopping centre. Very friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful breakfast. Free private parking. Completely spoilt for choice in evening for eating and drinking (all within short walking distance). The sun was shining and warm and we played draughts in the lovely private garden with a glass of wine (from the honesty bar) until the sun set. (I lost!) The most relaxing stay anywhere! There is a railway line right next to it but we found this did not disturb us as trains stopped running during sleeping time. The Kit Kats were stale - but I ate them anyway!

Lots of strong points here. The best thing is the care the owner and staff have for the place and the guests. Lots of pride in showing the rooms and the facilities - and some really good facilities. The honesty bar is a lovely idea, the dvd library and dvd players are great, as are the board games and reading room. They also take care of you with plenty of biscuits, bottles of water etc, replenished daily.
I did have a few niggles though - it is quite expensive (though I think Canterbury as a whole is), and I'm not sure I found it as charming as lots of the reviews here suggest. It is a gorgeous old building but our room didn't quite have the wow factor we were expecting, and neither did the garden. It is a lovely place though, and thanks to all there for the stay.

I found this little Gem whilst searching for the perfect place for my anniversary with my boyfriend. I used to go to uni in canterbruy so i know all too well how expensive and what a nightmare parking can be, but this place has its own carpark and a huge garden which you can take your drinks out too from the bar, eat your breakfast or just chill. We arrived at about 12 and our room wasnt ready till later on in the aftrenoon yet we was still able to park there and walk into town which is under 1 min away. The hotel staff were so friendly and couldnt do enough for you and you can tell they care about their guests. We stayed in the newer part of the building, in stable room 1 whcih was bright and airy and had an impressive bathroom with jacuzzi bath. We loved the room but a train passes right outside the bathroom window every 15 mins or so and even with the bathroom door shut its very loud. There were even freight trains going past gone 2am so i had the worst nights sleep ever . I would definatley stay here again as we loved everyting about it, but would stay in the main house .

Room Tip: Stay in main house unless youre heavey sleeper

Fab room, breakfast great and the honesty bar well stocked!

Had a great stay, the staff can't do enough for you.

Only negative is the very small drive through to the car park!!!

We stayed in Stable Room 1, which was tastefully decorated, a great selection of tea / coffee / biscuits, and a beautiful bathroom with a bath that had spa jets which was LUSH! The hotel gardens were lovely with a large garden with tables and chairs and a lovely pagoda. There is an "honesty bar" where you can help yourself to alcohol and write down what you've had for them to charge you which we thought was very trusting.

We've been to several hotels / B&B's in Canterbury and always found that parking is a massive issue with many not offering any parking at all. House of Agnes by contrast has a good size car park where we never struggled to find a space. Plus the B&B is situated merely minutes away from the high street / cathedral/ shops etc.

The staff were friendly, with a nice breakfast room and an array of food available, including a lovely cooked breakfast. The price we paid (about £80 a night) was very reasonable and we were very pleased with our choice! Our only niggle was that the walls were quite thin in the Stable room so we could hear the people next door quite clearly and we could also hear the Level Crossing Alarm down the road which went off a lot! This small detail was not enough to put us off though!

House of Agnes was SO nice that my boyfriend chose to propose to me in the gardens in the pagoda at night so it made the place extra special! Now we're making plans to go back in the next few months and possibly even using the B&B as a base for accomodation for our wedding next year.
