We booked to eat at Deeson’s last Sunday after a recommendation (and 10% discount) as guests from the (almost adjacent) Canterbury Cathedral Lodge – and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food is inspired and delicious right from the ‘free’ doorstep size fresh bread platter through the starters, mains and the melt in the mouth treacle tart with cinnamon ice cream for dessert or the locally produced cheese board. The staff are extremely friendly and immediately make you feel comfortable and are also happy to share their knowledge of Cath Deeson’s artwork throughout the restaurant. The tables are huge in size so you don’t feel cramped and the size of the cloth napkins show how excellent Deeson’s is; however, on the down side (as another reviewer mentioned) is the acoustics we were a party of two and seated close to a party of four who sounded like they were talking through megaphones which made it almost impossible for us to hear each other until they were eating; nevertheless, as long as this party of four do not go on the night you do you will have a wonderful flavoursome meal and I am sure Deeson’s will attain the No.1 restaurant in Canterbury accolade on Tripadvisor before long.
