Description: This super-chic Chinese in Canterbury is popular with a trendy Kentish crowd, and is located in Longport. Perfect for posh dinner parties, stylish dates and events, the Royal Inn Contemporary Chinese is decorated with designer wallpaper, blonde wooden floors and suede seating, and the restaurant is popular for its authentic cuisine and Chinese tea. The Royal Inn has a cosmopolitan, energetic vibe, and there is a private dining room for exclusive soirees. Favourites from the menu include the lobster served with crispy noodles and a ginger and spring onion sauce; the crispy aromatic duck pancakes with cucumber and Hoi Sin sauce; and the tofu stir-fry with macadamia nuts. We also love the special artistic tea.

I visited the Royal In last week when I was in Canterbury with my daughter. She had been living there and had heard about this restaurant in positive terms so we decided to try it out! Well, we were not disappointed - really lovely food, very friendly (not overly) staff and I though not too pricey for the quality. I'd highly recommend this restaurant for any visitor or indeed local folk in Canterbury!

The best Chinese by far in Canterbury, nice and quiet atmosphere and a relatively hidden treasure. Slightly pricey on a student budget but well worth it. Highly recommend the garlic and white wine chicken which is absolutely to die for. The jasmine tea after a meal is a perfect refresher after all the beautiful flavours within the dishes. Friendly and helpful staff that are willing to put their knowledge forward to help recommend dishes that I wouldn't normally try which were a pleasant surprise

Excellent food! We had the egg fried rice, salt and pepper squid and deep fried chili beef and we loved it. The food was brought promptly and the staff is very friendly.

This is our third visit to this restaurant, and certainly won't be our last. The service is excellent, just the right balance checking to see if you are ok, but not too much to interfere with your evening, friendly and helpful. Food is excellent, tasty, hot, and potion size is just right. The restaurant is small and cosy which makes for a nice personal atmosphere. The food and drink is reasonably priced. Nothing to dislike here, so make your booking now!
