“Particularly good for the food festival!”

My main visit to this side of Canterbury is for the yearly foods and drinks festival in late Autumn, which I would HIGHLY recommend for tasters and a great musical weekend.
Even non-festival time this is a lovely walk just inside of the Canterbury Walls, with plenty of places to sit and rest; watching the world go by. Well kept all round, with a sweet childrens maze to keep them busy for half hour.
There is also a cafe and toilets available.

Beautiful gardens, bandstand, kiosk and Dane John Mound to climb. Good view from the top with Canterbury Cathedral clearly in the distance.

Nice area only a short distance from the town centre. Great place to sit down and have a picnic or relax.

It's a short distance from the town centre, in fact it's across the road from the main Bus Station within the Canterbury City Walls and across the bridge from Canterbury East Station.

Numerous events are held there including light up the City on the 25th October in aid of the local Pilgrims Hospice and food events nearer Xmas.
Be warned it can be frequented by drunks and druggies so avoid at night and go in company.

Oasis of calm yet in the heart of the city. Interesting historical titbits on signs. Surrounded by interesting buildings and quirky bridges.
