“First choice for us!”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

We do like staying here and find the location, rooms and staff to be excellent. The only problem is that it is often booked up so we have to stay elsewhere but the Millers is always first choice. you can walk to all the Canterbury attractions and Canterbury West station. If you bring a car there is a large public car park opposite. We have eaten at the Millers a couple of times and found the food to be tasty and good value. The rooms are spotless and comfortable. We are going to Canterbury this weekend but unfortunately have got to stay somewhere else. will be back when we can get a reservation!

This hotel had helpful staff and a wonderful location, my sister had a view of the Cathedral from her window (room Reeves Tale, which faced the back) and I had a view of the canal from mine, no parking , but there is a public car park opposite(with security camera) where u can pay £6 for a 24 hour ticket (which the hotel issue) and several can be bought at the same time, if you need to be away for a few days, the hotel was comfortable, altho squeaky floorboards, made my early morning walk and don't wake the hubby a challenge, the rooms had names rather than numbers ours was a Knights Tale, and faced the street, and was noisy as we were above the entrance, so when the karaoke was playing we wouldn't have been able to sleep, but it went off at 12pm and never bothered us, but u can bear that in mind if it would annoy you or you go to bed earlier than that, the bedrooms seemed a bit tired, and in need of a face lift and that was in progress, there were rooms being decorated and stair carpets removed during our visit, but everything seemed clean, bar /food prices average, on both nights of our stay, there were private function's, so we had to sit in the dinning area, but we didn't mind that, as it was only for our night caps, breakfast was good, with a small selection of hot alternatives to the usual fry up, I would recommend this place my only gripe was I found it a bit hot and stuffy in the bedroom and in the dining room,

Room Tip: ask for back facing rooms, so you can have windows open, noisy at the front as there are 2 universit...

Perfectly placed for a getaway to canterbury for shows, bands, restaurants
comfy unpretentious, accomodation, just get on with your stay.
Nice restaurant if you want to stay in the pub, freindly staff, so we will be back yet again.

It is a short walk from Canterbury West train station to this lovely 1826 hotel. The staff were very friendly and my room was a good size with a small en-suite. The bed was very firm but I like it that way. I enjoyed breakfast and dinner in their comfortable dining room. Another short walk into the town centre and the Cathedral. What more could you want?

I really like the location and the atmosphere of this little inn, where me and my wife have stayed before. We stayed a few months ago and we were treated excellently by a young gentlemen who worked there but he was no where to be seen this time around. Once we had checked in (after what we assume was the manager had finished looking at his screen for two minutes!) and been taken upstairs we left our bags in the room (very nice and tidy) and explored the city. We returned in the evening for some dinner and it seemed as if they were a little short staffed. I noticed that the young workers seemed to be doing it all whilst the woman with short blonde hair (the managers wife apparently) just played with her phone. The food took a little while to come out but it was delicious so we were relatively happy with the dining experience. Breakfast v good also.

Having read other reviews and experienced it a couple of times myself, I would say that the Millers Arms has a good thing going on, perhaps they know it and have really taken their foot off the pedal. It appeared that way to us.

We arrived on bicycles, dripping wet and muddy but the reception staff were not at all put out; they showed us immediately to a secure bicycle store and then to our lovely room overlooking the river. The facilities in our room were very good and we had an evening meal in the bar which was tasty. The breakfast the following morning was extremely good and we were helped out on departure by the manager, who was very kind. All the staff we encountered were helpful and friendly. All in all, this venue is highly recommended and represents exceedingly good value for money compared to other places we stayed at during our mini-break in Kent.

We stayed here when we came to Canterbury. The room was great, walking distance to everything and the breakfast was amazing!

Just make sure you get your parking pass from them rather than buying one in the car park.
