My wife and I stayed at the Millers Arms a second time recently. We forgot to review for a previous stay in November, 2008; but all of the comments for this most recent stay are applicable for the earlier one. The Millers Arms is an excellent choice for a visit t to Canterbury. Canterbury Cathedral, St. Augustine's Abbey, the castle ruins and the town center are all within an enjoyable 15 minute stroll (stroll, not walk). The inn does serve food - primarily pub grub that is tasty and filling. The choice of ales and beers is good and the pub itself is cozy and friendly. As far as pubs go, it caters more toward an older crowd and is not a venue for younger pub goers. If this is what you seek, then you will find it within a few minutes' walk. Diners who want a more upscale experience - in terms of offerings and sophistication, will find many restaurants and bistros nearby. Moreover, a very large Sainsbury grocery store is located within a five minute walk for those who prefer to pick up various snacks and sundries for a lighter meal. The park right out front is a wonderfully place to enjoy the snacks and a bottle of wine, beside the fishing weir. The Millers Arms has met and exceeded our expectations twice. We will definitely return.

As per the title, the Millers Arms is only a few hundred yards from the city centre and cathedral, so an excellent location. Great arrangement with the council car park (directly opposite the pub) of only £5 per day (buy vouchers at the pub).
Very friendly staff, well kept Shepherds Neame ale and a good atmosphere in the bar plus an excellent full english breakfast with high quality bacon, sausages etc that really sets you up for the day. Clean bedding and a very powerful shower with plenty of hot water. Good tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
The only let down was that the room and bathroom had not been cleaned above eye level. The bathroom ceiling was very dirty and stained, but worse were the many cobwebs with spiders lurking in the corners, wandering across the ceilings etc. We felt like we were sharing our room with unwanted guests!
Despite this negative, which should be easily sorted out by the manager, we did enjoy our stay at the Millers Arms and in Canterbury.

Very nice B&B with friendly young staff. The location was perfect for us with only a short stroll to both the city center and the train station. The room was clean with a confortable double bed but a bit small : we could barely move between the bed and the furniture. Breakfast was good with a traditionnal english menu as well as a good choice of cereals, yogurt and fresh fruits. The only two downsides were the fact that we could not stop the towel rail heating (which made the room a bit warm) and that there was no music playing in the breakfast room the second of the two mornings we spent there (which gives a dull vibe to the whole process…).Overall, a good experience.

We booked a room at the Miller's Arms for our wedding night. On hearing this, management upgraded us free to the honeymoon room. Unfortunately, on going to check in, they'd lost all record of our booking. They arranged for us to stay in a different hotel, but I was very disappointed.

Our one night stay on a Monday was very comfortable, in the Miller's Tale room. I approached the jacuzzi with trepidation after the tales in earlier reviews, all fears were soothed away in the warm bubbling bath. The room was spacious with king size bed, a sofa, chest of drawers and wardrobe. Tea and coffee making, with snacks, but the power point for the jug was inconvenient. Lovely outlook over the park along the river, and we enjoyed the sound of the water. Enjoyed watching students and workers walking and cycling off to work when we were on holiday!
Parking is across the road in an open car park - we could see the car from our windows.
The stairs and narrow hall would make access with large cases a bit clumsy.
We didn't eat dinner here, and breakfast was fine. Staff were helpful when we hecked in, had a drink in the bar, ate breakfast and checked out.
TIP: Evensong at the cathedral was lovely. You can walk all over the old city easily from the pub.

We have stayed here several times and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, but this time the room was bitterly cold, with no extra heating. The meal was not so good either. We both ordered the lamb shanks. My husband' s one was okay but my meat had hardly been cooked. The only compensation was a free cup of coffee. The next morning at breakfast the water for the tea had not been boiled so we had tepid tea and we had to wait and age for our breakfast to arrive. We won't be going back again.
