A very nice hotel close to the city centre of Canterbury. Authentic atmosphere and an excellent breakfast buffet as well as hot dishes to order.

Stayed here for 2 nights.

Room on the first night was very poor. Right beside busy main road and above local pub. Only poorly fitted secondary glazing and noise excessive throught the night - we had asked to change rooms on arrival, however, were advised that this would not be possible as hotel was full that evening. Additionally, room was very tired and needed updating.

After the first sleepless night we were ready to move hotel until staff offered to move us to a room within the block in the courtyard. What a transformation, room markedly better, with no traffic noise whatsoever.

Whilst we did have problems, it should be noted that the service from reception was exemplary - the staff were superb and they should be commended for the service they provide.

Breakfast was fine, and the hotel is centrally located in the town within easy walking distance to local attractions and numerous restaurants. Free parking is also available which is very welcome.

Room Tip: Care re traffic noise

The Falstaff was an excellent, slightly querky hotel with friendly efficicient staff. It was everything that a chain hotel can never be, a bit old fashioned, a bit worn in places, but an abundance of character, and well positioned for the city centre. Super breakfast.

Nice hotel in a great central location. Free parking for guests was good. The room was large, nicely decorated and I got upgraded but that was probably due to the well known influential name of my company. Breakfast was good and the room was clean and was spacious, if a little low from the ceiling due to being in the attic

Myself and partner stayed here to visit family. The reception staff are very welcoming and greet you with a smile, the room we stayed in was very nice and the bed was lovely, i could not find fault with anything, breakfast was very good and hot and plentiful and Rebecca that served us was a sweetie and couldn't do enough for us. I would certainly return again as its so nice just to walk into Canterbury in the evening and be so central. I must also say thank you to the cleaning staff who cleaned our room so well every day. Thank you falstaff for a really lovely stay. And a little P.S your wine is mega expensive lol Thanks Genie and Alex xxx

We’d read some mixed reviews on Trip Advisor about this one so we approached with caution. We shouldn’t have been concerned as it is a great little hotel with an excellent team manning the helm.

Room was fantastic although, in all honesty, I think we were upgraded to one of the external suites at no extra charge. The room was large, well furnished, warm and...free WIFI. Excellent! Breakfast was also one of the best that we have come across. More than happy.

Some other reviews complained about the external street noise but this really isn’t a problem. You are in Canterbury and everyone is close together – there is always going to be some noise. It didn’t disturb us at all.

Location is great – the Canterbury archway is metres away as is the town centre.
I’d go so far as to label this place as a being quirky....in a good way and in a way that the foreign traveller would assume Canterbury to be. If only we had allowed more time in Canterbury. We had no idea how nice the hotel or the town would be! Next time we will stay for several days.
