Have stayed here a few times with hubby. Really relaxing, lovely historical building, staff welcoming. Just five minutes walk into the city. Great place, highly recommend.

We stayed at the Falstaff hotel for a 3 night break and it was without a doubt delightful. The hotel is an old coaching inn and has retained its authenticity. My husband had booked a superior room as this was for my birthday. The room was in the original part of the hotel and had a 4 poster bed which was without a doubt the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The room was very large and was more of a suite than a room, with all the original wood panelling. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very nice and everything was well cooked and plentyful. The location of the hotel is convienient for all the attractions and well within walking distance. All in all it was a lovely mini break and I would recommend both the hotel and Canterbury for a visit.

My Partner and I stayed at Falstaff on the 30th and 31st of Jan 2012. We stayed in the outside Block called the Woodshed or something, sorry old age prevents me remembering the name of it, but we found it perfectly acceptable. Clean, warm and comfortable just what we wanted after the long drive from Sheffield. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the Brekfast very good, filling and tasty. Plenty of car parking and only a short walk into the city centre. Verdict... would be very happy to stay here again and hope to in a couple of months time.

I booked this hotel to treat my friend to a weekend away for her 50th birthday and was very pleasantly suprised. Our room was comfortable, clean, lovely and warm, plenty of hot water and big towels (always a plus!)
On the downside the TV was ancient - but we didn't go away to watch the TV so this is really only a minor point, and there was an annoying occasional drippiing sound (we suspect the bathroom above may be the culprit).
All-in-all a very enjoyable stay, perfectly located to see the sights of Canterbury and a very warm welcome by the hotel - would definitely book again.

Room Tip: We stayed in the building at the back of the hotel - no noise from the street but the building is a...

We came here for the weekend from London and wanted a place to stay that was central and offered breakfast at a reasonable price. We looked at several B&B's but those that had empty rooms were outside the city walls. Best part about this stay is its location: it is a 5 minute walk from the Canterbury West station and 5-7 minutes walk to the Cathedral. Breakfast buffet in the morning is plentiful.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room that doesn't face the street. There wasn't much...

This very old hotel is in the perfect location for exploring Canterbury city, located just outside the west gate, also easy to find. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast room was pleasant, with good and plentiful food and the reading room/lounge/bar was reminiscent of grander times with comfortable chairs and a welcoming open fire to relax by. Another plus is the available onsite parking. The only downside was our bed was a double, not a queen size and thus a bit narrow for two.
