“canterbury treat”

Whether you judge a restaurant by the food or the staff or the ambience this restaurant is the tops. Real Italian , a perfect place to eat or relax. 4 of us ate different dishes and they were great. The place was busy so we did not get any special service that was not available to others. I cannot recommend this place high enough.

Dropped in for a quick lunch - gorgeous food and excellent service. We will certainly visit again when next in the area, and will allow more time so that we can eat more!

“Bus depot”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 December 2013

I feel a bit sorry for Carluccios as it suffers from being practically in the bus station. Last week I went there with my friend in the evening (7pm) and had coffee. There was only one other lady at a table, who was talking to herself. We were told we weren't allowed to sit at the back (ie- the warmest place away from the doors) but had to sit next to the doors, which automatically opened and closed. The table we sat on was dirty from the previous customer- wet and crumbs. The man supervising came to take our order but left without cleaning the table for us. When he returned with the coffees I had to ask him for a cloth. I guess he was a student whose Mum had done everything for him as the instinct just wasn't there! The coffees were only lukewarm. Unacceptable to be sat in a cold spot and still not be able to warm up through drinking. A busker came in to get warm but not to buy anything. The supervisor told him he had to leave. It was very sad. I got the impression that this Carluccios suffers from passing trade like this, as it is so close to the bus station. I'm not sure there's a solution, but the supervisor was put in a difficult position. We downed our coffee in one swig (now completely cold) and left. It would be better if rather than staying open until about 7 or 8pm (not much good to anyone) they either closed at 5.30pm, or opened for dinner until 11pm like most restaurants in Canterbury. I think this no-mans land arrangement is one of the reasons why it appears to be suffering a bit.
