Lovely river walk & picnic area. Lots of seats to just watch the boats & punts on the water. Beautiful gardens.

This is such a quaint little garden set along a river. The flowers were in full bloom and there were so many people taking advantage of its lovely facilities.
Well worth a visit.

If the weather's good, take a punt up the River Stour with the company by the Westgate Tower, they're excellent. The 65 mins ride takes you up into the beautiful unspoilt reaches of the river, with willows and dragonflies and lots of wildlife. The gardens are lovely. If you cross over the river there is an amazing children's adventure playground. These gardens are a hidden gem in the city - beautiful formal flower beds, and unspoilt beauty further up - you can walk quite a way up, and it's very peaceful. Good way to occupy yourself without spending any money - the city council have done really well to provide and look after this area. When we were there they were making a physic garden with herbs and medicinal plants - it's always being improved and developed.

These attractive gardens by the river are an ideal place to relax after trudging round the many tourist attractions Canterbury has to offer.
