We had a wonderful stay here. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was beautiful and even though it overlooked the road there was very little noise. We had a superb meal in the restaurant and a plentiful lovely breakfast. I need a gluten free diet and took my own bread. This was not required as the hotel keep a stock in. Well done and thank you.

One of only a few hotels over Easter happy to accept a booking for just one night. Set in grounds just of one of the main roads into Canterbury, with town centre a leisurely 10 minute walk away. Unlike a lot of hotels in Canterbury centre, car parking was available, particularly important in Canterbury which is largely pedestrianised and doesn't have many central car parks.

First impressions were of a country style hotel; traditional but not fusty, and well maintained. Room decor wasn't quite up to the same standard and looked a little faded, but the bed was comfortable, the room clean and spacious, and the bathroom spotless.

A good quality cooked to order breakfast was included in the price, and service, both in the restaurant and reception, was polite and welcoming.

If you're looking for hotels in Canterbury location is important; parking is a pain, and some of the hotels that are right on the main street in town are close to late bars/clubs which can be a little on the noisy side.

Mid-week stay away with Mum, had twin room, number 1, and it was great. Lovely welcome and showed to room. Nice size room, comfy beds and big bathroom. Swimming pool is really nice addition with jacuzzi, great after day walking around. The breakfasts were great, good choice and well cooked. Overall service was excellent, and beleive the 3 star rating is too low for the level of service and attention to detail. Nice and quite being away from town centre, but only 12 mins walk (and I only have little legs) so best of both worlds. Would certainly stay here again.

We arrived at The Ebury on the 20th the car park is spacious and a welcome site being so close to the city centre.

We were greeted warmly by the member of staff on duty, the routine of the hotel was explained we were offered a morning paper, early morning call and even a map of the city.

Then shown to our room with the offer to carry our luggage up to the first floor. Our room was at the back of the building overlooking the nice garden, the room was fine, clean and well appointed.

The only issue we had that could have become a problem was a really annoying banging noise coming from the plumbing, it sounded like a pump from an adjacent room but we could not be sure, it started at 0630hrs which ensured an early start!

I brought the matter to the attention of the receptionist following breakfast and without any fuss we were offered a change of room, we were asked to pack and leave the key at reception and our luggage would be taken up to our new room while we were out, exactly what happened, we got back and found we had a room on the next floor again with the same view of the garden.

The breakfast were very nice, service was good, the bacon is exceptional!

I cannot comment on the evening meals as we experienced the city both nights, the reason we were there really, the bar was small but looked nicely appointed.

Overall we both found the experience of staying at The Ebury a pleasant one, and one that we would be happy to repeat in the future, nice room, good value, car park and a 10 minute walk into the wonderful city of Canterbury, thanks to all concerned at this hotel.

Room Tip: Ones at the rear overlook the garden and could be quieter, the front of the hotel is on a fairly bus...

There are lots of nice things about the Ebury. Location, lovely grounds, close to the city yet peaceful, with a pool. Decor is old style, even charming.Food excellent and yet ..
We hada room at the back, in an old house converted. The clue is in the word "old" especially applied to the plumbing. If this doesn't worry you great. However the clanking of the "one legged watchman" as the central heating ( I think ) got under way was noisy and annoying at various times of day after 7 am
We had another plumbing related issue which could not have been foreseen. \it did need urgent attntion and the staff on duty were dismissive until we persisted. The alternative was to remain silent and have a ruined room. The excuse given was not borne out by the plumbers investigation. Poor communication, we still had to find out it had been fixed.
Not all staff are looking for a quiet life, most were helpful. But the hotel's quite small size means cleaners are pounding about very close by with little to stop the noise.
The food is worth trying, our evening meal was delicious. We felt looked aftyer in the dining room but not at reception I'm afraid.
Overall we thought it offered more than it could deliver, the promise was "a comfortable and relaxinf stay". It fell short and we so did not want it to.

Room Tip: There is no lift

I stayed at the Ebury Hotel for two nights whilst attending Christchurch University. I had a single room which was small but very comfortable, the shower room was beautiful and the shower itself was great with loads of hot water. A fellow student and I had dinner on the first night and the food was fantastic as was the service. I had room service on my second night and it arrived on a tray with snowy napkins and silver teapot etc it felt very luxurious and yet a very reasonable price.
I was so impressed with the hotel that I booked all of my university dates from now till the end of July, the only slight downside was noise from the road but so close to a city centre this is hard to avoid I think.
